When Bush ignores congress and rubber stamps the port deal.
Do we officially have a Dictatorship? The extension of Executive power for this White House has far stretched any other in US History.

1. Congress hasn't passed a law yet stopping the deal.
I'm skeptical they will. They will probably put in loopholes so they can pretend they tried to stop him but Bush can do it anyway.

2. My other line of thinking is that this is all a ploy to give it to
Halliburton, the only company from the US, big enough to do the job.

6. That's possible, but our ports should be owned by the US government.
Not a private company or foreign-owned company.

but IT WILL GO THROUGH, they are a rubber stamp legislarue anyway. this is just smoke and mirrors to allay the base.

13. I don't think Bush really has the guts to veto it...
It would be a huge mistake on his part.He would damage his base.

3. I think so. The good news is, dictators can be overthrown
And I think if he does rubber stamp the port deal, the people may finally rise up in revolt. And I mean people of all political stripes. Especially people who heretofore, thought Bush could do no wrong. It would be a serious misstep on his part, but I don't think he has a clue about that. I think he is so farking arrogant that he truly believes he can do anything he wants, and people will just get in line behind him, cheering him on. Not on this issue, though. He's in for a rude, and long overdue, awakening.

5. Does Laura think she is the "mother of the people"
like Mrs. Ceaucescu did before the tyranny was overthrown in Romania?

10. It's not Bush - it's Congress. They're the rubber stamp.
Frist and Co will come with some horseshit solution.

11. I heard where this Dubai company was trying to make a spin off
company in the US to run the ports. It would be similar to the many Halliburton spin off companies.

14. Congress will not be ignored
because they will have a 45 day review and come to the conclusion that our Dear Leader was correct as usual.
