He said there would be a big announcement... :bounce:
The afternoon session of State of the Black Union 2006 titled, "Defining the African American Agenda, Part II," focuses on the 2005 proposal for a covenant with Black America. Two panels, moderated by Tavis Smiley, discuss the progress black Americans have made since the completion of the covenant and book edited by Tavis Smiley, The Covenant with Black America, published by Third World Press. The book presents plans of action for individuals, families, and communities on ten issues identified by the public: education, criminal justice system, police accountability, healthcare and well being, economic development and employment, housing and community development, participating in the democratic process, information technology, rural communities, and environmental justice.
The afternoon is divided into two panels, "Defining the African American Agenda: Pioneers and Pacesetters" and "Defining the African American Agenda: Emerging Leaders."
~The event was held at St. Agnes Baptist Church. The Rev. Wright gave the afternoon invocation and the Rev. Lowery gave the benediction.
