Is there a reason for the sudden overall global insanity?
Edited on Sat Feb-25-06 01:53 PM by FormerRepublican
First we have Cheney getting drunk and shooting lawyers in the face, then we have people going wacko over the Danish cartoons, then we have people going wacko over the ports deal, then we have Iraq exploding into civil war, then Al Qaeda is staging attacks in Saudi Arabia and threatening more...

WTF? Are we getting invisible BBs from Mars hitting our planet and making everyone crazy? Gamma Rays from an invisible supernova? Mass hysteria? CIA drugs slipped into our koolaid?

Why is everyone on Earth going stark, staring insane all of a sudden?

3. wacko over the ports deal?
It's not to get wacko over? As for Cheney, well, the sun was in his eyes right? Muslims rioting over the Danish cartoons vs the earlier Abu Ghraib photos I am afraid you got me.
Why didn't Iraq explode earlier is my question? Whoever thought of blowing up that mosque certainly knew where the tipping point was. Why haven't dissidents hit Saudi refineries earlier? I guess I would ask how we have been so lucky up to now? I think things began going south a long time ago when we stole all those moon rocks.

6. It's simpler than that, it's 100% Bush's fault
The Earth was a relatively calm and peaceful place until Bush was selected in 2000. I'm amazed how many Bush lovers completely ignore recent history.

7. The fundies would say it was the End Times beginning
in fact, most of my relatives strongly believe this.

Gog and Magog and all that sort of stuff.
OF course AIDS, Russia and China, Iran, information age, abortion, and gay marriage, gay adoption, all figure in there somewhere.

Not a one of them believes they are actually going to "die".
The dying and gnashing of teeth will all be done by the sinfully godless people.

Of course, don'tcha know?

"Early Warning Signs map was originally released in November 1999, the picture of how global warming can affect us has become increasingly clear. By now it is very apparent that a warming climate could have substantial and direct impacts on the health of our ecosystems, food and water sources, and on humans, especially children and the elderly. It is well understood that these impacts will occur around the globe and will disproportionately affect the poorest members of our global community."

http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2004/04/0420_040420_earthday.html
"...the biggest danger, many experts warn, is that global warming will cause sea levels to rise dramatically. Thermal expansion has already raised the oceans 4 to 8 inches (10 to 20 centimeters). But that's nothing compared to what would happen if, for example, Greenland's massive ice sheet were to melt.

"The consequences would be catastrophic," said Jonathan Overpeck, director of the Institute for the Study of Planet Earth at the University of Arizona in Tucson. "Even with a small sea level rise, we're going to destroy whole nations and their cultures that have existed for thousands of years."

"Using computer models, scientists have created a series of maps that show areas susceptible to rises in sea level. The above map shows that a 6-meter (20-foot) rise would swamp Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Tampa, and the entire Florida coastline, in addition to parts of Orlando and other inland areas.

11. The global fascist business interests have now gained total
control over the votes of the religious right allowing them, for the first time, to take control of everything thing else. Without the help from the religious right, the political picture would have been vastly different.

Is the religious right simply stupid? Or, are they just greedy and viscous blood thirsty people? Or, both?

13. I believe that as the earth moves through space
we go through pockets of insanity for want of a better term, as we pass through these disturbances, the tendency of the bad side of human nature to come out wins.
Things will return to relative calm when we get through this, unfortunately, the capacity to utterly destroy ourselves grows with every revolution through the mad zone.
The only thing i know to do is to find something stable and hang on for dear life.

15. Bush and dumbing down of America.
Bush's incompetence and stupidity have destroyed world stability.

When the world's most powerful nation is seen as a nation of idiots
led by a total moron who is incapable of speaking or understanding
complex issues, it causes people's sense of security and stability
to become unhinged.

Bush and his criminal, incompetent pack of fools have destroyed any
claim to the title of the most powerful nation on earth. People start
to realize that it is now every man, woman and child for themselves.

I am not an educated person but I venture the prediction that it will
take several decades to undo the economic and spiritual destruction
that this administration has brought forth in the area or civil liberties,
spirituality and the economy.

We can remake our country and hopefully our standing in the world,
but it will not be quick.

17. none of that is "insane"
a drunk goes shooting and an accident happens--perfectly logical outcome

neocons create a bunch of hateful inciteful provocations and people get pissed--perfectly logical outcome

a criminal gang seize power in America and use it's military power to poke a big stick in a hornet's nest and hornets go nuts--perfectly logical outcome

the same criminal gang arrogantly thinks they can put their own "profit" above the nations' interest and people get outraged--perfectly logical outcome
