Just remember....that "Open Forums" invite MANY.....and it might Invite
some "many" that are "Friends of Karl." FOK.... Remember the "FOB" well the "FOK" are very sinister..and they know disinformation and PsyOps...much better than we do...

So...One always has to take everything one reads as my Grandma said: "With a Grain of Salt." or... in other words..."Don't believe EVERYTHING you read."

Although, I must say that what info I get from links on DU sort of makes me wonder if WE aren't MORE INFORMED than all the rest of America.

But...just look for the "LINKS" because "Opinion Pieces" (mine included) always have an AGENDA!

Just a "caution." put out there...as an "oldie DU'er," whose been around quite a few elections and spin and such....

1. There are endless accounts of trolls & disruptors. On all forums.
Edited on Fri Feb-24-06 07:36 PM by applegrove
Why bother with them. Why bother. Even if it is a real Repuke who is simply mis-informed. Given the wrong facts. It annoys.

Be gone with them.

Keep the discussion real. Keep the facts real.

2. NO! this is different.....DU has always had a "purist" quality...when one
sees "disruptors" here...they have been "dismissed" with many links disputing their claims.

This is DIFFERENT.. We invite all here... (At least the Administrators of this site do) but the CAUTION ALWAYS IS....BEWARE.

We are going to be SPUN with forces we've never seen before because the GOP/BUSHIES...are "on the ropes."

It's going to be really hard to sort...especially for our "Fine Newbies" to sort out.

That's all I'm saying here. Let the "Reader Beware" and always look for LINKS and TRUTH!

3. What agenda?
I generally only post opinion pieces--my opinion pieces. I have one agenda...to educate.

Okay, and to market myself. But that's hardly my primary purpose for being here. In fact, I'm here more as a way to hone my writing skills than for any other reason.

5. Any of us who post "Opinion Pieces" should be subject to the same
transparency as the NYT's or WaPo or others who have an "agenda."

Those who post with "Links" to support their views should be considered "VERIFIED" because one can always post "refuting links" to counter the "current link" or one can read and "move along."

"Opinion Pieces" are exactly what they state. The VIEW of the poster...and don't always need "back up" although many DU'ers do provide a link for back up. Still...OP ED's can stand alone and get many replies which is good...with links that will support or refute.

One just needs to know that with Bush in the Dumpster...there's going to be a big influx of OP's and such ...here.

7. I agree. Critical thinking is a must for an examined life.
Edited on Fri Feb-24-06 08:09 PM by IsItJustMe
I am new to this and have already run into a couple of opinion pieces that made me think about what you said.

HHHMMM.

But then again, free thinkers look and think.

My motto through out life has been, "Don't believe anything you hear and half of what you see". It has got me through.

"examines" one's sources or reads critically.

Then all is fine. And DU Mods often weed out the most blatent examples of "FOK" but HEY...no one is perfect and we can't expect "perfection
anywhere.

So...discriminating readers and even discrimating readers of "disruption" that doesn't always get "caught out" might be in order in the coming days as Chimp Implodes and the RIGHT WING suddenly grapples the meaning of the word:

HYPOCRACY! HYPOCRACY! HYPOCRACY! HYPOCRACY! HYPOCRACY! HYPOCRACY!

(Not like I'm beating a "dead horse" or anything, here.) :D

9. Conquer and divide has worked great for the repukes as of late
It totally amazes me how subtle and deceptive the campaign has been.

They are masters at it. And sometimes, yes, they have even fooled me. I consider myself to be a very critical thinker; and yet, it is coming from everywhere. So I heed your advice with respect and reverence.

What really opened my eyes was watching Democracy Now and seeing how the administration hired Public Relation teams to push the Iraq War. They will go to extreme measures. For real.

Believe me now or believe me later, but I know you will believe me.

Thanks

10. ???
i missed something..open forums? i don`t think so unless there is one forum that "anyone" can "debate" any question. i know one site, that i can`t mention, has a forum where anyone can ask a question about the board and it`s posts. it would be interesting but i guess it would be a waste of bandwidth anyway it`s more fun kicking them off the site...
