Think long term......
What we know is that the golden dome(mosque) in Samarra(?) was totally destroyed in a terror attack.....and the result is a plethora of retaliation killings pitting sunni against shiite.
Civil war is upon Iraq....like it or not.

And so, with poll numbers in the basement, and an upcoming election - it all stands to good reason that the democrats will once again control the house and the senate.

If you know your going to lose your power base what do you do to keep getting what you want?
Fu## up Iraq SO BAD that the democrats will be hopelessly entrenched in the Bush doctrine. Nobody is going to be talking about leaving with civil war. Troop levels will be increased. Iran will be targeted as a main instigator in the civil war. It will spill onto Iranian soil. The international community will be forced to participate just to try to quell the violence. Bush wins either way.

You see, Bush wants neverending war - or his corporate buddies do. Peace is not profitable. Listen - the oil companies are swimming in profits as a direct result to instability. They don't care if they cannot deliver oil because of violence at 60 dollars a barrel - and the oil isn't going anywheres - so ramp up the violence so oil is priced at 100 dollars a barrel - more profit to them.

Oh he'll talk the talk of calming down the region - but inside he is smiling. He wins. If Iraq blows up in a big way - there is absolutely no way America will ever leave.

I know I am being very cynical - so talk me down.

1. cynical?
"the democrats will once again control the house and the senate."

You're more optomistic than me. I'm expecting more stolen elections.
