Government - serve the public interest, dammit!!!
Edited on Fri Feb-24-06 03:17 PM by Phoebe Loosinhouse
Not the corporate interest,or the private interest, but the PUBLIC interest. Why is it in the publics interest to privatize for profit the most basic functions of government? The people doing it are obviously doing it because they are personally riding the gravy train. They are NOT doing it for altruistic or ideological reasons of "small government" or any other bs cover story they are using. This regime is a criminal gang that is perpetrating a classic smash and grab while they redistribute the collective wealth of the United States of America. (Does Dick Cheney strike you as a "civic-minded" type guy? How about W? or Snow? Or Rummy? or DeLay? Why do guys like these go into politics? Do you think it might be to MAKE MONEY?)

As we stand dazed in the figurative rubble of our economy while the wind wafts little shreds of the Constitution about our heads,we need to take a refresher in Government 101 and ask the most basic question of every action - does it serve the public interest?

1. Hey! What part of Bush's "my government" don't you understand?

Am being facetious.

Bush did call it ..."my government" yesterday.

"The more people learn about the transaction that has been scrutinized and approved by my government," President Bush said, "the more they'll be comforted that our ports will be secure."

2. It certainly isn't "our" government.
I do think he has something like Tourette's and it causes him to occasionally blurt out his true thought. He thinks of it as "his" country ( in the sense that he can do with it as he pleases) and "his" government.
