Who is actually RUNNING this country?
I can't believe this nonsense. The Commander in Chief says he hadn't heard about the port deals until afterwards and now other members of the Bush admin are saying that they didn't know. Is this the same for homeland security, torture, leaking classified information? If all these so called chiefs don't know - who the hell is running this country?

1. That's the problem
It isn't being run at all. It's being robbed.

20. Absolutely correct.
They do not intend to run the country, that is not the point for them.

9. Gee Du(m)b is a delegator
he is not the leader his supporters think that he is.

He has no overview of America or every day Americans' concerns.

Worse than the ports, did you hear that Townsend witch? All this report did was create more red tape, and involve more agencies to the mix. This administration is out to lunch. The Dubai ports are just the tip of an iceburg. In Lexington, we have a water Company run by a German company. The people of Leington have been fighting this all along. China owns so much of our national debt, thay practically own us.

Meanwhile GWB is robbing Social Security to give rich folks tax cuts, while blowing a billion dollars a month in Iraq, which he has allowed to descend into a civil war.

I pity whoever wins in 08, Gee Du(m)b will have left such a mess it will take generations to even break even.

11. It's bullshit that they didn't know....
They're NOW saying that they didn't know--after the nation is in an uproar.

Just a few days ago, the pResident defended this decision. He was an arrogant ass--standing up for this deal. He said he was willing to veto legislation that impeded the deal with the UAE.

We're supposed to believe that Junior is willing to use the pResidential veto for the first-time ever---over an issue that he's just so-in-the-dark-about--and about which he only recently learned?

BullROAR.

They're just distancing themselves.

NO ONE is responsible for the failures or problems, NO ONE fabricated the information to justify going to war, NO ONE stoled the last two presidential elections, NO ONE is responsible for the federal deficit, NO ONE is responsible for the huge increases in energy prices, NO ONE gave the order to torture foreign prisoners and NO ONE outed Valerie Plame.
NO ONE is at the controls of this nation and a giant iceberg ( the result of global warming that NO ONE will accept as true) is straight ahead. Save me a place in the life boat!!!!!!

17. God save the King/Queen
Text & tune may date back to the 17th century

first publicly performed in London, 1745

1. God save our gracious Queen,
Long live our noble Queen,
God save the Queen!
Send her victorious,
Happy and glorious,
Long to reign over us;
God save the Queen!

2. O Lord our God arise,
Scatter her enemies
And make them fall;
Confound their politics,
Frustrate their knavish tricks,
On Thee our hopes we fix,
God save us all!

3. Thy choicest gifts in store
On her be pleased to pour;
Long may she reign;
May she defend our laws,
And ever give us cause
To sing with heart and voice,
God save the Queen!
4. Not in this land alone,
But be God's mercies known,
From shore to shore!
Lord make the nations see,
That men should brothers be,
And form one family,
The wide world over.

5. From every latent foe,
From the assassins blow,
God save the Queen!
O'er her thine arm extend,
For Britain's sake defend,
Our mother, prince, and friend,
God save the Queen!

6. Lord grant that Marshal Wade
May by thy mighty aid
Victory bring.
May he sedition hush,
And like a torrent rush,
Rebellious Scots to crush.
God save the King!

24. Who knows?
I play a lot of video games and every once in a while one manages to come up with something truly unique and thought provoking. One in particular is Metal Gear Solid 2. In this game it is revealed that a secret organization runs the country, known as The Patriots, and have run the country since the beginning of its existence. Every President who has been elected was actually chosen by them and the elections were just little shows to keep the public from getting out of hand. Everything the country has ever done was decided by this secret organization ultra-rich men who remain hidden and only future presidents are even familiar with who the members actually are. I always thought it was an interesting idea. Who knows? It could actually be the case.

28. The Military-Industrial Complex, just as Eisenhower warned
"Our military organization today bears little relation to that known by any of my predecessors in peacetime, or indeed by the fighting men of World War II or Korea.

Until the latest of our world conflicts, the United States had no armaments industry. American makers of plowshares could, with time and as required, make swords as well. But now we can no longer risk emergency improvisation of national defense; we have been compelled to create a permanent armaments industry of vast proportions. Added to this, three and a half million men and women are directly engaged in the defense establishment. We annually spend on military security more than the net income of all United States corporations.

This conjunction of an immense military establishment and a large arms industry is new in the American experience. The total influence -- economic, political, even spiritual -- is felt in every city, every State house, every office of the Federal government. We recognize the imperative need for this development. Yet we must not fail to comprehend its grave implications. Our toil, resources and livelihood are all involved; so is the very structure of our society.

In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the militaryindustrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist.

We must never let the weight of this combination endanger our liberties or democratic processes. We should take nothing for granted. Only an alert and knowledgeable citizenry can compel the proper meshing of the huge industrial and military machinery of defense with our peaceful methods and goals, so that security and liberty may prosper together."

Public Papers of the Presidents, Dwight D. Eisenhower, 1960, p. 1035- 1040
