That seems pretty senseless to allow disinformation to spread.

1. Because apparently the company officials held back the info.
That's what fuckin Cooper said anyway.

7. It's not corporate media's fault
I've been glued to this all night. Anderson Cooper is pissed and stunned.
It's so very sad

6. That's not an excuse.
Just another reminder of how lazy our corporate media has become.

How'd you like to be a family member and come home to this:

??

9. I'm talking about the corporate mine owners
owned by Wilbur Ross, a corporate raider. I was not talking about the media.

14. Exactly right.
Thanks for the link. My mouth is wide open, watching Anderson Cooper all night.

Why didn't CNN vet the information?? Why didn't they insist the reports were "unconfirmed"?

18. I'm not excusing anyone of anything.
I'm just telling you what the guy said.

I know where you're coming from. They should have at least said the reports hadn't been confirmed.

13. Well, the MSM did NOT help by rushing with the "miracle" story
The cable news idiots have to take a share of the blame -- no skepticism, no attempts to get to the bottom of the sourcing.

15. I couldn't agree more.
Not one person said it wasn't confirmed, they just went with it.

25. It was a media circus
That Rita ho-bag on MSNBC was horrid and salivating over the tragedy. I had to turn it off. That was before this "miracle" incident.

2. those poor people
Why did they tell them to wait for the miners in the church if they already knew that they were dead?

3. The company said that they didn't know
Who was dead, who was alive. They didn't want to go back to the families and tell them that the rest were dead when they weren't sure. That's some logic isn't it?

5. More to the point...
How could authorities allow unverified reports of survivors to get out in the first place? What a horrible, horrible mistake to allow to slip through!

10. The company knew in 20 minutes that the story of the miners
being found alive was wrong and did nothing for hours. That is criminal.

21. I agree.
The company should have gone to the church and said "Wait a minute, we know that isn't accurate."

There is no excuse for what the company did and how they did it.

11. That's what eavesdropping will get you
If you've ever worked in an emergency room, you know that a "live" patient can mean anything coming over the radio. Rescuers may have spotted the 12 and heard the one live man moan and assumed the best until close enough to observe otherwise.

Unfortunately, a newsmedia consumed with "getting it first" might overhear information that is unconfirmed and broadcast it as if it were. Only ratings matter; human lives? Pshaw!!

MSM's job is to fact check before they blabber their mouth off. This is what happen when MSM is so use to spilling GOP talking points and never fact check!

23. It's called CYA...
Over in LBN I posted the striking simililarities between the CEO's and the Gov.'s statements -- it's very clear they spent the 2-3 after getting the word the 12 were dead getting their stories straight.
