Abramoff deserves the death penalty
Well, no, he did plead guilty, so I'd go with life in prison for him.

BUT I do favor the death penalty for white collar corporate crimes. I consider it a form of economic terrorism, every bit as bad as if a terrorist blew up a building or exploded a bomb in a downtown area.

I want to see Ken Lay and Jeff Sklilling executed.

1. Aw now no no no!
Let these assholes break rocks, make car tags and suck cocks for eternity in the prisons they spend more money building than they did on SCHOOLS. Poetic justice? INDEED!

We can't advocate torture. Even for the slimeballs that deserve it.

3. White collar corporate crime should be life in prison....
But bilking taxpayers, like billing Medicaid or Medicare twice, or double charging for soldiers' meals deserves the death penalty!

5. Oh, no. No, no, no, no, no. Not at all.
The death penalty was never intended for cases like this. No way. No society can be that draconian. It was intended for people who had committed crimes so beyond the pale of humanity that letting them live would be an affront to the rest of mankind.

I mean, I disagree with the death penalty, but even if I were for it, I can't imagine being in favor of executions for white-collar crime.

7. Ahem
It was intended for people who had committed crimes so beyond the pale of humanity that letting them live would be an affront to the rest of mankind.

Stipluated.

Lay, Skilling and Ebbers all meet that test.

8. Not in the same way.
There's no comparison in depravity required to look person in the eyes as you murder them and to swap a few numbers on a sheet of paper.

12. Swapping the numbers is WORSE
The drug addled idiot who has stumbled along with no hope, no opportunity, no alternative; has existed in a cess pool where life has no value, that guy I understand.

Some fat motherfucker who has never struggled a day in his life and lives in the lap of luxury; that guy "swapping a few numbers" that ends up destroying the lives of masses of society and turning their future generations into those drug addled idiots, that fat motherfucker makes no sense to me whatsoever. The depravity to fuck people over that way, for no other reason except another jaguar, is what is beyond the pale to me.

9. I concur completely
death penalty is barbaric. So is the idea that anyone deserves to be raped in prison.

No country club prison, harsh time for crimes like this.

Call me, oh, a liberal but I believe in the idea of a penitentiary that is penance for crimes and a chance to reform people instead of destroying them.
