1. Its a hell of a let better than Microsoft

And the owner/creater of real player is a serious progressive - donating millions to Dems and Dem causes like moveon etc.

2. Not really.

And it sucks compared to Quicktime, too. Knee-jerk hatred of Microsoft isn't much of an argument; nor do the political affiliations of the creator of a free/shareware media player have any tangible bearing on its quality.
