Poll question: What do you think of Porno on cell phones?
I heard this on my evening news last night that adult companies WANT to be able to access cell phones. THEY say they will protect the underage???

1. I don't understand--is there some sort of block that prevents people
from making 900 calls on their cell phones? do the adult companies want to be the ones doing the calling? explain, please.

8. I don't have a cell phone so I'm guessing
I think so new ones have a search function just like Google where you could go for free and they make their money from subscriptions and/or advertising

here's one I found

2. "porn anywhere" is not a 1st amendment right.
But I would choose the "who cares?" option if there was one.

3. I'm okay with it as long as it's not invasive...
IE, you have to go to it- it doesn't come to you. Also, should require some way to verify that the viewer is over 18. Personally, I don't care if my kids saw some mild porn at 15 or so - like I did, it's a natural curiosity, but that's me. Other parents are more bothered by it and should be able to set those limits for their kids.

6. Just another way to keep people occupied so they won't challenge anything
Give men non-stop porn and they won't have the interest or inclination to think about anything substantial. Like the loss of their rights.

7. Two choices the way I see it...
Either parents will have to monitor what their kids are doing or not let them have cell phones. If kids want access to porn bad enough, they can get it and don't need help to do so.

It's about damn time this society starts educating their kids about sex and not get all worked up over seeing some boobs, dick, crotch, or two or more people going at it.

The more educated and open we are to our children about sex, the better off everyone is.

14. so, whether it is good for, healthy, or the kids want it, .... fuck them
they had better just get use to the adult world invading their world, cause we adults are just so much more damn important

i guess that is one way of looking at it

25. Not just that...
we need to be honest and open with our kids about sex. It's not the big taboo and forbidden act that should only happen during marriage fundies keep screaming about. The more educated kids are about sex, the more likely they'll use their heads before making any kind of decision whether it's sex, watching porn or whatever.

Some seem to think that by keeping kids uninformed about sex they are somehow protecting them. I don't believe that for one second.

27. Totally agree
Kids will always respond to forbidden fruit. I DO WISH we would stop talking about sex and start talking about love. What these kids are doing has nothing to do with friendship, respect or a meaningful interchange. I don't expect one to be a virgin at marriage. IF I had a teenager I would WANT them to safely experiment BUT giving BJ'S in a bathrooms at lunch time at 13 is not smart for either kid

30. why is it one or the other. porn teacher, or kid uninformed
are you suggesting that porn should be the teacher to our children in being sexually informed? and if parent doesnt allow porn for a 8 year old, then we are denying our child of sex education? and what 8 year old is being taught sex? i am really confused in your reasoning, figuring it is very shallow and really is not looking at so many aspects of child development and parental role

32. I'm talking about parents educating their children...
not sitting a kid in front of a TV with porn on it. :eyes: That's no better than violent video games teaching children about violence.

Parents will hopefully have enough common sense and use good judgment when educating their children.

I have three children. Ages: 22, 15 and 6. The two older ones were very well educated about sex starting at the age of 12. I did the educating...not the TV, not the bible and not friends from school. They know just about everything there is to know about sex including birth control and how to protect themselves.

I've never regretted it because they came away more educated and will trust me enough to come to me if they wanted birth control or had questions. It's worked very well and we'll do the same with our youngest when he gets a little older.

I have a real problem seeing people get all worked up over a kid seeing a boob, dick, crotch or whatever. They somehow seem to think it sends a wrong message. The wrong message is not sending a message to our kids. Educating them is always the best way to go.

i told 10 yr old turn on nbc for olympics for an assignment for class. i come into room as he is turning channel saying there are those girl models doing stuff. i look on tv and it is slut women wrestling on et. he turns it and we wait for 7 pm. i turn about two minutes early and now et has a woman strippin. they dont show her naked, close, but they cut to her holding bra out and i turn channel

son does not want to watch
kids dont need to have it plastered on all channels
not the end of the world
there is no way we are going to keep all this crap out of kids world so they WILL be educated
and i really dont want my kids conditioned this is what being a woman is about
it wasn't kid appropriate. he didn't want to watch. we as adults say fuck you kids what you want, we want it. you deal with it.

my son does not want to see a mans dick on tv i assure you. at his age he is figuring out his own perception of all this. he doesn't really want to be fed adults perception of this crap. let him and children in general walk their sexual journey instead of jamming adult sexual perception on children.

there is no give and take here which is ridiculous. either i am a prude fundie uptight not gonna teach my child about sex, or i must see adult porn as a part of my child's world, deal with it

just not how i do life, nor will i expect demand allow in my child's world.

at what point did we decide that porn was no longer adult world. that is for all, regardless of whether we want it or not. regardless of the effects it is having on our youth or not. this does not make sense.

34. As parents we have to deal with it in the way we see best...
Yes, kids are going to see it and there's no stopping that. But as parents, we can also pass onto our childen the values we hold dear. That's why I decided to step out as far ahead as possible so it'll be my values and not the TV, bible and other people's ideas of sex.

Do you want your children to figure it all out on their own or do you want them to have the same values as you? Do you not think by pretending the media doesn't sell sex that it'll go away or are you putting off the inevitable when they do discover sex all on their own without the benefit of being educated about sex, disease, pregnancy, sexuality, and the wide range of issues that come attached?

I'm not saying any parent should tell or show their kid sex at such a young or tender age when their minds can't comprehend it. Far from it. We waited until our kids were 12 when they could comprehend and understand it.

We do more of a disservice to our children by not educating them and that's done far more harm.

Do you get a free magnifying glass with each subscription? What's the point? So you can whip out your dick on the 5:40 commuter train?

I actually actively dislike porn. I think it's like fast food, not real good for you.

17. So now, I not only have the pleasure of overhearing
everyone's business discussions, personal comments to friends, lovers, and family and LOUD arguments all the while I'm being hit by the shopping cart of some distracted boob....

But, now i get to watch some jerk jack off between the fresh meat (no pun intended) and the freezer aisles as his eyes are affixed to some 2x3 screen?

Why is STUPID and UNNECESSARY not a choice? Go home and pull up whatever you like--by phone, by computer, by video, or (how old fashioned) IN-PERSON. Outside the home, can't human beings think of ANYTHING else?

23. RFLOL!
I'm on the same buses all the time. After awhile you get to know the cell phone users and their daily arguments with ??????.

On one of the routes I had the same schedule as this middle age man that daily was having nasty conversations with someone with totally foul language......The bus driver FINALLY told me he wasn't talking to ANYONE. This is the modern day answer for the mentally ill. No doubt he was disturbed. If I was on 5th Ave in NYC I would find many of him

He demands something they can't do (for whatever reason), then proceeds to get on the cell phone to "report them..." Seems most of them know his schtick, but I came in on an occasion when a new worker didn't realize he was calling no one. Ahh, public street theater at its best... :eyes:
