Okay folks it's time to oppose the delay for DeLay
Edited on Tue Jan-03-06 11:10 PM by proud2Blib
In view of today's events and the upcoming scandals, it is past time for us to demand that our Congress critters rise above the corruption and do the job we elected them to do.

Dennis Hastert has delayed the reconvening of Congress to give Tom DeLay time to deal with his legal problems. They are not scheduled to return until Jan 31, two weeks after the Senate reconvenes.

I am suggesting that every single one of you contact your Congress critters and demand that they oppose the delay for DeLay.

Just think, if we can persuade the Dems to return, even if they can't officially reconvene, what a powerful message that will send. I have written several Dems and my own rep, encouraging them to get back to work before Jan 31.

Use this link to contact your critter.

Let's stop the delay for DeLay!!!!

1. Won't Earle's request stretch Bugman's trial start?
Now that Ronnie has asked for Abramhoff records I am pretty sure the start date will move back. Discovery and all that legal stuff.

3. All the more reason to get Congress back to work
and leave DeLay to solve his problems himself.

Hours after Abramoff pleaded guilty to conspiracy, mail fraud and tax evasion charges, House Speaker J. Dennis Hastert (R-Ill.) announced that he will donate to charity the tens of thousands of dollars that he has received from Abramoff's Indian tribe clients. Top Republican strategists pushed GOP leaders to embrace legislation to curb the influence of lobbyists.

And former House speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.) called on House Republicans to elect a new majority leader to permanently replace Rep. Tom DeLay (R-Tex.), Abramoff's most powerful ally in Washington, who faces a trial on unrelated criminal charges of violating Texas campaign laws.

"Unequivocally, the House Republicans need to select a new majority leader in late January or early February," said Gingrich, who cited revelations in The Washington Post that a public advocacy group organized by DeLay associates had been largely financed by Russian energy interests.

6. I'm OK with the delay.
Let them drag it out as long as possible. I don't want anything to break big in the Delay case before March. Why March, you say? Well, that's when primaries are. And Delay has THREE Republican primary opponents -- one of them is a VERY GOOD candidate.

So I want to keep the legal stuff on the downlow as long as possible so that Delay will win the primary.

And then be horribly wounded and have the trial and all of that going on in October and November and we Dems pick up a seat! :woohoo:

10. You know, originally I figured it was
a good idea to oppose the delay, but now, since Patriot Act sunsets on Feb. 3, I'm thinking it might be great for Dems. to do their own thing, getting caucus stuff done and then be totally prepared to say goodby to that piece of crap.
