What's With All The Religious Ads On CNN?
I am a Christian by the way, and I've noticed commercials for bibles, kids' religious books, etc. I've noticed this more recently, about the last month or so. That's not cool, at all.

21. The History channel shows haven't exactly been "Christian propaganda"
It's more like they take a religious subject like "the Antichrist" and compare the biblical account to other religious contexts throughout history, and then also claim that the biblical texts as written were more a metaphor for the Roman Empire than a predicition of the End Times/Second Coming of Christ scenario which is essential Christian doctrine. So, not exactly proselytizing there. I haven't seen the Discovery channel's shows on the subject, but I'm guessing they're done in a similar manner.

24. I agree. I greatly enjoy that kind of thing, and have probably seen 90%...
...of those that the History Channel has shown
in the last few years.

I've never felt that any of them were especially "pro-Christian".

19. It's an opportunity they're taking
Apparently right now it's all big to be alligned with the "Christian right" so they're taking this and running with it to advertise. I probably would too if I had something for the particular market.

it is sort of like, the ends justify the means... same logic used by bush to invade and occupy iraq.

20. The UCC
United Church of Christ. They were saying in the ad anybody was welcome to church and we won't kick you out because you're gay or a certain color etc. There was nothing wrong with it.

religious institutions and MSM. They're all corporations spreading propaganda and competing for the public's money.
Hope they practice all those hymns for the end is nigh for their gurus.
I don't even hear them but is 'Nearer my God to three' on the list? I hope so for a few should be coming home when Jacko starts spilling the beans

Edit - add.

ink on the dollars.
Do you really think CNN cares who spends money for their air time as long as it meets FCC guidelines?

25. January....TV Ad Death Valley
You're probably seeing a P.I. or "Public Information" commercial...if you're goofy enough to call the 800 number or get online and order the bible, CNN and/or the cable operator get a couple of sheckles as well. It's a cheap way to make money out of air time that isn't sold. Faux does a lot of this.

All these networks are suffering from the boosh recession. As retail and other consumer spending remains sluggish (and it is), so is advertising money. I just read today how the Tribune company's stock price fell 50% last year due to the poor advertising situation. Ironically, the less money coming in means even more cheapening of the programming and hikes in cable and satellite rates.
