Remember how The Great Hunter mocked Kerry?
How Did Dick Cheney Break the No.1 Rule of Hunting?
For veteran sportsmen like the vice president, safety is a core value
By TIMOTHY J. BURGER/WASHINGTON

The cardinal rule of hunting could not be more simple: Don’t shoot the people (or the dogs)...

If Cheney now finds himself criticized or lampooned, he'll ironically be in the same position he himself put Senator John Kerry in during the final days of the 2004 Presidential campaign, though the circumstances then did not involve a potentially deadly accident. At the time, Cheney used his widely-known experience as a hunter to mock a duck-hunting foray in Ohio in which Senator John Kerry ended up shooting a goose. "The senator who gets a grade of 'F' from the National Rifle Association went hunting this morning," Cheney reportedly said, to hoots. "I understand he bought a new camouflage jacket for the occasion, which did make me wonder how regularly he does go goose hunting.”

1. Of course Kerry has shot people too, ...
... but that was in Vietnam where he had volunteered for ultra-hazardous combat duty.

3. Oh, yeah?
You don't think shooting quail from a car is dangerous?

Or was it Quayle?

Ask the dude Cheney pumped full of buckshot. He's not going to be revealing any secrets now, is he?

Nice heart you've got on - - - heh heh heh

Cold, clear, and not nearly snowy enough for me. I can still be seen against the whiteness, dammit.

Now, will everyone take my advice and arm all the animals and birds. Snakes can handle themselves.

Got one ET CD today - you better be right............

Now there's an outdoorsman for you.

21. When Little Sure Shot arrived at the hospital, he was greeted as a
liberator, with flowers and sweets!!!

Since the incident, Deadeye Dick has switched weapons, now using a jazzy cane gun, which is much lighter, more accurate and easier to fire. Better still, he can use it to prop himself up when his ticker gets weary. And in close quarters, he can beat "lawyers who talk and squawk" with it, in a pinch!

8. I use to hunt a lot when I was a kid and I never shot anybody.
You have to know where your at, whether or not there are any houses and in which direction they are. And if your hunting with partners and dogs you need to know where they are or at the very least which direction they are.

My guess is Dick was drunk because that's the only way you could shoot your hunting partner when he's standing as close as this guy evidently was.

13. Goldwater wouldn't be happy
I remember way back when he wasn't opposed to gays in the military, he said that, "You don't have to be straight to serve in the military, you just have to be able to shoot straight." Of course, 1) Cheney didn't serve in the military; 2) he can't shoot straight; and, 3) Goldwater would be drummed out of the GOP today for being too much of a liberal.

17. Kerry's new camo jacket contained no body armor (required for ...
... going hunting with Cheney)

Were Cheney and company shooting from a fully armored vehicle?
