3. According to Editor and Publisher, we only heard at all because...
the owner of the ranch knew someone from the local paper.

NEW YORK The more than 18-hour delay in news emerging that the Vice President of the United States had shot a man, sending him to an intensive care unit with his wounds, grew even more curious late Sunday. E&P has learned that the official confirmation of the shooting came about only after a local reporter in Corpus Christi, Texas, received a tip from the owner of the property where the shooting occurred and called Vice President Cheney's office for confirmation.

5. I'm guessing the ranch owner was concerned about personal liability ...
... as much as anything else.

8. And faux news said, "The poor guy (cheney) was probably embarrassed."
I only caught that because I was flipping through the channels, looking for the briefing, because I NEVER turn on fox. Now I know why...these people are just criminal!

4. I'm not unconvinced that...
...they weren't working on a cover-up even though the guy is still alive. When I first heard of the shooting on the news the anchor made a point of saying that it was unclear why it had been 24 hours before any word got out. I'm trying not to be so conspiracy-minded these days but I just can't help it with these guys. The first thing that occurred to me was that they needed 24 hours to get their stories straight. But I hope it was just an accident and that the guy will be OK.

11. I'm just thankful the shooting wasn't reversed.
I can't imagine how nauseating the 'martyr brigades' would get if poor, innocent Dickie had been shot while being such an upstanding, macho Amurikan.

12. Of course the bush admin wanted the guy to die...
I'm surprised they just didn't put a pillow over his face at the hospital!
