Ken Mehlman wants your thoughts!
Someone put me on the GOP mailing list, which is frequently good for a laugh. This came in today:

From: Ken Mehlman
Subject: Share Your Thoughts on Our Party

Nearly a century and a half ago, the United States was divided. With our country's future at stake, Americans turned to a prairie lawyer from Springfield, Illinois. Abraham Lincoln, our first Republican President, united the nation after the Civil War, preserving the Union, ending slavery, and opening the door of opportunity to millions.

Every February, we mark the birthday of the Father of our Party - and two other Great American Presidents: George Washington and Ronald Reagan. We also celebrate the bedrock principles of freedom and reform that have been the unshakable pillars of our Republican Party since the Civil War.

As we remember some of our greatest leaders, we're giving you a chance to share your thoughts on Lincoln's legacy and what being a Republican means to you. We'll post some of the responses on GOP.com.

http://www.GOP.com/YourThoughts/

Since Abraham Lincoln, Republicans have been the party of freedom and reform. From breaking the oppressive tyranny of slavery, to Teddy Roosevelt's Trust busting, to Ronald Reagan's leadership that ended the Cold War, to the liberation of fifty million in Iraq and Afghanistan, Republicans have consistently stood for freedom-- and even today, we are putting new reforms that spread freedom into action.

February is also Black History Month - a special chance to remember the courage and sacrifice of other great Americans, and to remember the freedoms Abraham Lincoln helped make possible. We encourage you to read the tribute to these heroes of freedom on our African American Team Web page.

As we celebrate our freedom, click here, and be the one who helps define what it means to be a member of the Party of Lincoln.

Ken Mehlman
Chairman, Republican National Committee

I'm sure Ken would be delighted to receive your thoughts....

12. In all honesty....
I can't think of a single thing to say to a gay man who spends so much time attacking those who would and do stand up for his rights at the behest of those who hate him.

Actually, maybe I'll say that.

Dear Mr Mehlman,

I don't know what planet you are on but to take credit for "the party of Lincoln" is ludicrous. I for one (I am 54) grew up in the sixties and was a history and poli sci minor in college. I was and am very involverd in politics. Anyone with just a liitle bit of history and knowlwedge knows that the current republican party has nothing to do with the historic battles of the sixties. As a matter of fact the liberal republicans of the sixties barely has a voice in your party. The republican party has become the defacto dixiecrats of the fifties and sixties. Your party is dominated by southerners who left the democrats after the civil rights. I for one knoew quite well what the southern startegy is and you still use it to this day. How you wake up and look in a mirror and believe this drek is beyond me. One of your favorites is Sean Hannity. A quick story on him. He was in Atlanta and he answered an immigrant on the air in a mock broken english accent. I being of Asian descent knew exactly what he was doing. He let himself slip and he was reacting the way racists act. I got a hold of him the next day and I got control of the call and he was speechless. Of course he hung up. My dad was never so proud of me. My dad was from St. Louis and he was not allowed to swim in the public pools because he was asian. We know prejudice and racists and Hannity is one. You let him represent your party. Look in the mirror and ask yourself a question. Do these people raally like me? No chance
