Latte Republicans
Just heard the term Latte Liberal again and I thought to myself, why is this allowed to be so one-sided?

I think it's time we retake some ground here and ask "What about Latte Republicans?"

You know the type.

Got to go to school and hang out in the Frat because mom and dad paid the way...or worst case had to take out some GOVERNMENT GUARANTEED student loans. Now, strangely they feel like others should magically do it without those same loans...or get their parents to pay for college just like their own parents did (god bless their upper middle class comforts).

These same Latte Republicans drive SUVs (rapidly and often park them in compact spaces) and while they bemoan the cost of insurance and gas, they just can't imagine how they'd possibly get little Timmy to Soccer without the extra space afforded by the new Lincoln Navigator or Expedition. They get upset about $2.00+ prices at the pumps because it COSTS THEM $150 to fill up a tank...yet they drive alone to work, oppose heightened cafe standards because then cars would be "unsafe" and think that rolling back 10 BILLION DOLLARS in quarterly profits from Exxon would be "socialist".

These same Republicans sit in their Minivans outside starbucks with stickers that demand we "SUPPORT PRESIDENT BUSH AND OUR TROOPS!" but strangely, no one in their family is in the army.

These same Republicans rabidly support tax cuts for the people who "make the money" but scream bloody murder over the miserable schools their kids are forced into...unless of course that college degree above allows them to send their kids to private schools in which case they don't give a shit.

These same Republicans watch American Idol while decrying the lowering of our decency standards.

These same Republicans drive down the street on their cell phones or stand in line in the grocery store babbling on their blackberry completely oblivious to the concept of courtesy (or safety) of those around them.

They are insulated, isolated, and indoctrinated. And they are choking down every bit of pop crap our instant culture can spew at them. They chug their Latte's and devour their Olive Garden meals JUST LIKE EVERYONE ELSE. All the while feeling smug and superior in the lingering vestiges of their middle class, white, suburban neighborhoods....secure in the knowledge that the only minorities they see will be the ones doing their yard work. But that's ok because those people are "pulling themselves up by their bootstraps"...at least until we finish deporting them.

And yet somehow its the LIBERALS who drink all the Latte?

Not anymore Bucky. Any time I hear someone spew that term I'm gonna ram it back down their throats.

Random thoughts.

1. No, the correct term is "Champaign Republicans"
You know the type, guys like Abramoff, Lay, Skilling, Delay, and their patrons toasting each other as they conduct their business like modern day robber barons.

4. Cigar Repuglicans.
That's the real picture, cigars and overpriced alcohol and listening to 50s pop music in your 20s and pretending it makes you cool.

There is something terribly, terribly wrong with the young calling themselves conservatives. It's a sure sign a country is going to go to hell for a while.

5. We must make them eat every term.
And we must not allow them to distance themselves from their responsibilities or reality by the hit and run labels they twist to use against us. The reality is they are guilty of almost every imagined wrong they condemn. And they are guilty of all the cultural and social hypocracy they would lay at our feet.

No more. The mirror must be raised to their faces and it must be held there at every opportunity.

Champagne, Cigar, Latte, Hummer...any and all of it. Needs to be tossed right back in their lap over and over till the message cannot be ignored.

6. Starbucks is more popular here in North Dallas than anywhere I've
ever been... it's at EVERY major intersection... And the huge majority of people here in these burbs are Republican.

7. Reminds me of a quote I heard from a friend
"People in Wheaton* are Republicans because they love God, people in Naperville are Republicans because they love their cars."

*Wheaton is the Chicago suburb that's like the Utah of Illinois, hyperreligious. Naperville is a neighboring burb that's full of rich, free-market, soulless bastards.

9. Call them what they are "gin swilling conservatives".
I'll take a latte liberal any day over a Republican who stinks of gin, tobacco and sweat from wearing those dark wool suits all the time.
