Should any political party...
A quote sent to me by a friend today. I needed to see this again, and share it with you again.

"Should any political party attempt to abolish Social Security, unemployment insurance, and eliminate labor laws and farm programs, you would not hear of that party again in our political history. There is a tiny splinter group, of course, that believes you can do these things. Among them are H.L.Hunt (you possibly know his background), a few other Texas oil millianaires, and an occasional politician or businessman from other areas. Their number is negligible and they are stupid." Dwight Eisenhower 1954

1. Old Ike had some good ones.
"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed."
--"The Chance for Peace" Address April 16. 1953

and they, unfortunately, seem to be running the whole damn show right now. A Texas oil man who couldn't even manage to keep his company from going under is President. x(

I bet Ike never dreamed this would happen.
