Villaraigosa Irked That He, Bush Haven't Met
Villaraigosa Irked That He, Bush Haven't Met
The mayor says two requests were denied. White House blames scheduling issues.

By Steve Hymon, Times Staff Writer

Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa's frustration at not being told personally by the White House about the details of the reported terror plot against the city's tallest building stems from a greater annoyance:

Nearly 7 1/2 months after taking office, Villaraigosa said Friday that he still has not succeeded in speaking or meeting with President Bush.

Villaraigosa said that his office contacted the White House on two occasions last summer to set up meetings with Bush when the mayor was traveling to Washington, but that the White House turned down both.

The mayor — who co-chaired John Kerry's campaign to unseat Bush in 2004 — said the only personal contact he has had with the president is a congratulatory letter he received after being elected last year. In the four-sentence letter, Bush wrote, "I look forward to working with you as we strive to make our nation safer, stronger and better."

1. On the other hand, the two have nothing in common. Villaraigosa is an
intelligent, dedicated public servant doing a darned good job as a Democratic mayor of a major U.S. city.

And Bush is . . . etc.

2. And the advantage for Bush ...
to have a meeting is???? These are both big boys in the big boy game ... expressing that you're miffed means the other guy wins.

9. I think that Villaraigosa
wants everyone to know what an ass chimp is and is letting chimp know that he won't just be silent and take crap off of him. I think chimp is the one who is going to be miffed and be the loser.

3. Villaraigosa is not one of Bush's cronies. He's a great mayor,
a Democrat and a leader. Bush would look very inadequate, standing next to Villaraigosa.
Yes, in Bushie's world that's reason enough not to meet him or alert him to the terror plot
against the US Bank Tower. Go figure!

4. Bush is just doing his vindictive big baby routine.
You campaigned for my opponent, so you don't exist to me.

8. Repukes are scared of Villaraigosa
cause he is going to go all the way to the top. Villaraigosa will probably be either Governor next or a Senator and hopefully one day President of the United States. I live in Los Angeles County (he's not my mayor but) I just love him! :thumbusp:

10. here's the kicker....
last sentence of article....

Homeland Security officials said that Bush was only giving a speech and that there was no direct threat to Los Angeles at present.

-----------------

soooo - the whole thing wasn't to be taken literally? it was just in terms designed to scare the 'merican people out of their pants?

ARRRRRGGGGGHHHH!!!! Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain - he knows not what he spews.....
