Mutiny on the H.M.S. Bush...

The rats are jumping ship. They got out their binoculars because they thought they saw land, which they relate to the November elections. But, what they saw were giant rat traps. Traps in the form of the economy, the war, immigration, and domestic spying. They don't want to be caught in those traps so they are pretending to put distance between themselves and their Captain.

If somehow the Captain can steer around the traps, they will be willing to climb back aboard the good ship. However, at the moment, they have looked at the horizon and they see a disaster ahead. They have to put distance between themselves and their beloved Captain. At least, they have to pretend to put distance between themselves until the election is past. It's become amusing to watch them desperately swim for cover...

With people like Heather Wilson, that are fighting for their political lives, pretending to put distance between themselves and the Good Captain, without pissing off their right-wing base. It's a tightrope for them.

3. They're Not Jumping Yet...Just Measuring The Distance To Shore

With Boenner playing "meet the new boss/same as the old boss" and DeLay still playing money man in the Appropriations committee, that sure doesn't sound like jumping ship, yet. If anything it's setting things up for one more big looting before the clock strikes midnight. Or, knowing the balls on these asshats, they feel this will blow over, the sheeple will pay no attention and it'll be business as usual. This will surely be the case if the Repugnicans hold the House in November...these fuksticks will see this as vindication and make life even more miserable.

Then there's Rove still playing the Mighty Wurlitzer...spinning his media puppets...still holding them in their spell of access and power and cowaring them at the same time. He's still launching smear and disinformation campaigns and bets are he already has the lies and tricks lined up for this election cycle. Hopefully an indictment with his name will cool his jets, but until he's dragged out of the White House (and I image it'll be a frog march), he's still very much in control and the sheep won't go too far off the plantation.

Where the mutiny is starting to take place is for the money. With lobbying dollars vanishing (by the lobbyists) and their addiction to pork and perks under attack, this is where you're starting to see Repugnicans jump ship. They'll be quick to blame others for the corruption until their own mess is uncovered. But to confuse this jumping ship with the destruction of the party or any help to for the Democrats is to live in a fool's paradise. There are still plenty of dittoheads and freepers out there who will vote this fall for Hannibal Lecter as long as he has an (R) next to his name...they church busses will be loaded, too. Our work is just beginning.

5. We'll See Water If They Lose Big In November

As long as these goons control all the levers of power, they're gonna use and abuse them to the hilt until they're yanked out of their hands. Then, you'll see changes...not before.

Some are positioning themselves...like a McCain...or a Hagel...to pick up the pieces when an implosion occurs, but right now the dissent one sees is transitory at best. I'm extremely dubious about Heather Wilson or any Repugnican getting "ahead" of a key Democratic issue right now as it isn't beyond Rove to try to hijack that issue and turn it on us.

We need to tread carefully....

But, like you say, "they're gonna use and abuse them to the hilt until they're yanked out of their hands". That is very true. Any opposition to Bush is a very scared minority but we might expect their numbers to grow a little the closer we get to November.

McCain and Hagel would be two excellent choices to carry their Party back to the center and keep their moderate center in the fold. However, that could turn to war, real quick. McCain is more of an "angry" politician than anyone.

7. Most of the Republicans in Congress

will follow Bush right off the cliff because they dare not do otherwise. Karl has that deal all rigged with his threats of punishment. If Republicans really cared one whit about this country, they would begin impeachment proceedings immediately and save this country from the most dangerous presidency we have ever known.
