MIAMI -- According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a radio conversation overheard by a trucker has led to a "be on the lookout" alert and heightened security awareness at South Florida airports.

The trucker called 911 to reach the West Palm Beach police and said he heard someone talking with a "Middle Eastern" accent about a man headed to a South Florida airport with a truck filled with explosives.

Broward County Sheriff Ken Jenne, who is also the head of the South Florida Anti-Terrorism Task Force, said that they are on alert, but they have been unable to independently substantiate any threat.

Jenne said extra protection is in place at the major airports and ports in response to the concern....

Tip sparks security concerns at area airports
A truck driver in Palm Beach County told police she overheard CB radio conversation about a plot to 'blow up an airport,' resulting in heightened security at South Florida airports.

>>Investigators were first alerted to the threat Friday when the truck driver called 911 from the road and said she had overheard a conversation ''between alleged Middle Easterners on a CB,'' Orihuela said. The driver was in Palm Beach County, and the conversation the driver reported overhearing was about ''bringing explosives and blowing up an airport,'' Orihuela said.

But when investigators questioned a specific driver mentioned by the tipster, it didn't pan out as a lead, Jenne said. Also, the driver was at home and the truck that had been described in the tip was in a different place, Jenne said.

Until they learn more, they'll keep some extra people on the lookout for unusual activity at both Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and Port Everglades, said Jenne spokesman Elliot Cohen.<<

Most use cellphones now to chit-chat, but many still have CB and other radios in their cars and English is not their first language. I use to have a CB in my car and would hear all sorts of strange languages (I am semi-fluent in Spanish)...most sounding Arabic and/or Hindi/Urdu popping out of the radio, and this was in downtown Chicago.

Several years ago, I played with a freepers head saying how Al Queda could infiltrate all the cabs, trucks, 7/11s and self-service gas stations and we'd never know. I was playing on the dude's racism, and his paranoia, but sadly, there is a grain of truth in that.

It still never ceases to amaze me how the "strongest nation" on earth is filled with some of the biggest pussies...and they all belong to the GOOP.
