CNN just ran a brief piece implicating Harry Reid with Abramoff.
Edited on Fri Feb-10-06 03:21 PM by Scout1071
They must be stopped.

Chuck Roberts on CNN said "Senator Harry Reid has lead efforts to portray Abramoff's case as a Republican scandal, but Abramoff's billing records might tell a different story. Over 3 years, Reid has collected nearly $68,000 from Abramoff's firm, partners and clients." That is a direct quote. We know that Reid did not take any money from Abramoff's firm or partners. We know that he did accept money from the tribes, both before and after Abramoff got involved, that had nothing to do with Abramoff.

Go get them DU. We need to stop this lie right now. How many times does this have to be dubunked before they stop spreading this falsehood?

Enough is enough. I hope that every single person on DU today contacts CNN.

Here is the link to the feedback form:
http://www.cnn.com/feedback/forms/form6a.html?3

The clip ran precisely at 2:47 EST.

If anyone has an email address (I'm probably the only one without it handy on GD!), it would be helpful.

1. Coporatists sure seem afraid of Harry! They are trying to take him out
like they tried with Dr. Dean.

Seems a fine recommendation if they are trying to destroy him.

9. Reid and the Dems are telling the truth.
Reid did take contributions from the Tribes. Those contributions started before the Tribes were ever involved with Abramoff. He's the Senator from a state known for gambling!

Reid has done nothing illegal and it's bullshit they are broadcasting like it is so.

30. Tribe money wasn't dirty UNTIL Abramoff used it for BRIBES. Big difference
This is the media spinning to confuse LEGAL DONATIONS from Indian tribes with Abramoff's SCAMMED MONEY FROM TRIBES that he used to BRIBE REPUBLICANS.

6. Reid is the one case where they may be able to prove
quid-pro-quo between him and the Indian tribes who donated, whether or not they donated at Abramoff's suggestion. Reid certainly didn't get the donations before Abramoff was hired by the tribes. Reid certainly voted their way after he got those donations.

Other Democrats the tribes donated to got those donations before Abramoff was hired, and their votes went all over the place. That is why they're focusing on Reid. Whether or not he was actually dirty, they may be able to try him in the press and "prove" to morons that he was.

I have to say that although Reid has shown signs of life from time to time, I won't miss him much. He's far too conservative to be effective.

Granted the network owners are corporate pigs but is there not one network reporter, cable included, capable of doing actual research or are they all just reading what is handed to them?

7. Still catapulting the propaganda for BushCo
Same bullshit, different day. They have about 60 different republicans to choose from who took actual money from Abramoff, yet they only report on the one Dem who actually has a real reason to be associated with the tribes.

I asked them how much they were paid to continue slandering Reid? I asked them to report the news and to help us get our country back. I also told them that they should hang their heads in shame for what they have allowed themselves to become. Report the facts. Remember them?

piece prior to Harry's hit piece.

And Chuck Roberts looks giddy delivering the news.

26. Dear Uncle Harry,
It doesn't do us any good for you to throw stones when you are going to attract as many stones as you cast. Perception is reality and we have to be smart about who leads the attack on what. I agree that Harry is too conservative for my taste, he also might not have the smarts to lead. I'm sure he was thinking that the best defense is a good offense, but billing records? C'mon guys lets use our heads, we take every opportunity they give us and screw it up. Crap!

27. Again with all the effort
CNN is pure propaganda. All your letters and e-mails only confirm you are watching them, which is all they care about. Stop watching CNN and giving it legitmacy. It has none. It took me a long time to come to that conclusion-I just to be a cable news junkie. I still love my TV. But I cannot stand being propagandized. CNN to my mind has for a long time been worse than Fox news-precisely because it's supposed to have the credibilty that everyone knows Fox doesn't.

As far as the Abrahmoff scandal-we already lost that in the court of cable propaganda opinion -before any of this about Reid came out.It doesn't matter if you get a four second rebuttal from Matt Laurer-Katie Couric's originial interview will stand. (And more average people will turn into that show than CNN) It doesn't matter how many facts you throw at them-propaganda appeals to the slightest hint of a twisted fact with heaps of emotion. I think Du'ers are again wasting their energy on this. People know the Republicans are corrupt-and the question is always-so what are the Dems going to do about it?

The details of this Abrahmoff thing are too bzyantine for anybody with a life except politics to honestly care about. That's my .02.
