Put a politician (or an actor portraying the politician) in it, and then every time THEY LIE, give them an ELECTRIC SHOCK. (If its an actor, it would obviously be a "fake" electric shock.)

Wouldn't it be fun??? And think of the visual of the Poor Lying Politician doing a cartoon equivalent of getting zapped by electricity!

What do you think?

1. There was a show in the 80's called Hot Seat
hosted by RW Looneybird Wally George:

No electrodes, but if a liberal were caught telling the truth, he'd kick them off the set.

2. LOL! So much for my being "original!" I thought it was a clever idea.
Maybe SNL or Comedy Central could do a skit on it as 'visual' reminder to folks that these people are LYING. Thanks for the info, tho. :)

4. Isn't that what O'Reilly's show is all about?

Well, he shocks them every time they tell the truth.

5. I Remember Wally
I had a friend go on that show and he told me that it was just Wally's schtick and it was 'deep satire'.

He was (he died several years ago) Rebecca DeMornays dad.

6. I had a slightly similar but somewhat different idea.. :)
My wife and I watch Jeopardy in the evenings, and every so often you'll see Alex Trebek come back from a break and change the scores because their factcheckers during the show determined that a given answer was either technically wrong (and had been tentatively accepted) or technically right (and had been rejected).

I asked my wife, "If a freakin' game show can do it, why can't the news?" My idea for a show would be one where someone (a politician, author, pundit, political activist, whomever) gets interviewed, and during the show, any claims they make are factchecked. Coming back from each break, we see the breakdown of what facts are in dispute, and perhaps even a score showing how egregious their ignorance or misrepresentation was (or how accurate their facts turned out to be). If you don't use facts to back up your position, the dreaded "NO FACTS" would flash on the screen, for negative -10.000 points, and ultimate humiliation.

It would be a real "no-spin zone" that the likes of O'Reilly would be terrified to come on. I'd watch it!

7. Maybe no electric shock, but definitely have a polygraph reading.
I think that would be fucking awesome, actually.
