WTO to force Frankenfoods on EU
I predict a consumer revolt. We now live in south of France. I see signs abound. No meat of Genetically altered foods in stores or restaurants all the time. People do not want this. It is not the EU governments, it is the people. Can we have a little democracy here. Hope the will of the people errupt in the streets. At the very least Fraankenfoods should be labeled.

WTO Biotech Ruling Reveals Special Interests, Say Critics
by Emad Mekay

WASHINGTON - A World Trade Organisation decision that called European safety bans on genetically modified food illegal under its global trade rules could usher in a new phase of potentially hazardous "Frankenfoods" worldwide and further erosion of local protections, say environmental and advocacy groups.

1. Well, at least the French don't hesitate to take it to the streets
when they feel like they're getting screwed. I know that some here will vehemently defend GM foods, but they simply haven't been around long enough to know the long term effects of consuming them. Sorry, but I'd rather not have pig proteins in my corn on the cob (and there's a whole other issue-cross pollinations means that all crops around a GM crop become GM crops...)

4. We are semi retired
Mostly, you need have an income and savings so that you are self sufficient. Plus, my wife enjoys a needed skill. We find Roussillon far cheaper than California so it is do able. I am anxious to see how the French react to this news. I will be eager to join them. Would not be so upset if even they allowed labeling.
