I read earlier that Carter didn't acknowledge * at the King funeral
Does this mean that he didn't acknowledge him when he spoke at the podium, or did he give him the cold shoulder socially?

3. That's true
Carter didn't shake Little Lord Pissypants' hand, didn't speak to him, nor did he even acknowledge him by looking at him. Carter is no hypocrite, and I have tremendous admiration and respect for his integrity. :applause:

12. Jimmy Carter is the epitome of presidential demeanor.
He is pure class, and always has been.

Thank you, Mr. President, for showing everyone that your actions and words are the same. Thank you, sir, for not acknowledging a felon and traitor. Nosodumb, my respect for Carter is like yours - tremendous! :patriot:

4. He didn't shake hands and exchange pleasantries. Walked right by him.
Way to go, Jimmy baby!

5. Okay, I have to ask
Something tells me I shouldn't...what did Clinton do? Slap both poppy and chimp on the back or a big bear hug?

8. Not sure.

But there was an image posted with the lot filing up the aisle in the following order:

*, Hillary, Bill, GHWB.

13. Clinton and Bush did not shake hands. Bush walked past him awkwardly
Edited on Tue Feb-07-06 11:58 PM by Scout1071
and shook hands with those before and after Bill. Bush tried to make a break for it, but Pickles was stuck in the crowd so he had to wait. Carter caught up to him in the meantime. Bush was pretty much backing up the ramp saying "Come on Pickles (in whiny child like voice)!" Laura caught up and they put on the turbo chargers leaving Jimmy to walk alone - which I think he preferred.

9. Why not? junior has blatantly ignored Carter all along,
rudely and with malice. He was the one who set the tone of the relationship. But Carter certainly doesn't appear uncomfortable with that arrangement.

10. It's like that scene in Fried Green Tomatoes...
"I'm older and have more insurance." (Carter obviously delivers that line.)

IMHO, President Carter does not need to kowtow to anyone...he has paid his dues.

11. OK by me. Didn't seem like the right venue to be glad-handing anyway
I don't believe he went out of his way to snub him at all. At the end, he and bush were both turned waiting for laura to catch up to george and that could have been misinterpreted as a snub, but it wasn't. He had his back to bush, but he was just waiting for the mrs to toddle ahead of him.
