Okay, at first I thought it was inappropriate for the Rev. Lowerey
to politicize Ms. King's memorial. But I got to thinking... someone has to make the Shrub realize how the majority feels about this illegal war and the thousands of people dying because of it. I hope when his head hits the pillow tonight, he remembers what Rev. Lowerey said earlier today. But my guess is he'll down a few drinks to be able to sleep after what happened today.

1. About Rev. Lowry...
Reverend Lowry was Martin Luther King's friend and partner. They founded the Southern Christian Leadership Conference together. Dr. King and the late Mrs. King would've applauded his comments at her funeral. Mrs. King didn't support this war and she was against gay discrimination. As a result, her funeral was a perfect platform to voice opposition to Bush's views.

3. Her life was about truth and justice. I can't imagine someone
who loved Coretta like Rev. Lowery did could feel he served her memory without speaking out as he did today. Our sins have not been in saying too much, but in not saying enough, at least in public. I hope today is the first step in changing things.

5. I think we saw from her actual friends - what side she was on. She was
on the side of LOVE. And they spoke to that.

Great of them to do it. I think she would have been so proud and happy to see those speeches.

to power without apology! She deserved no less for all she gave to fight for civil rights on behalf of all of us and especially the least amongst us. A full tribute to a Life well lived with Grace and Honor. He gave Voice to those she wanted heard!

9. Agreed - Chimpy was so out of place
It was so fitting to watch his uncomfortable self writhing in his chair every time someone mentioned teaching peace, or how we haven't really eradicated segregation, or how the King family was accepting of every race, religion, sexual orientation, etc. I agree that if it were my funeral and that f*cker showed up I would want someone to hold his damn feet to the fire and speak the truth about the legacy of my life.

Coretta is a hero and will always remain in my thoughts. We need to carry her burden forward, as many others stated at her funeral today.

10. Considering that they try to stifle dissent at every turn
...you kind of have to grab your opportunities when you can.

Sad and un-American, but true.

Wonder what the foreign press is saying....

13. The greatest love anyone gives is speaking the truth that is difficult
and despite the opposition.

I guess it shows how much individuals like Martin Luther King, Malcolm X, Bobby Kennedy and John F. Kennedy loved their country and mankind.

Reverend Lowery did a loving thing, for the Kings and, surprisingly enough, for the Bushes.

Public accountability and honest criticism are teachers of compassion and empathy.
