Shocking! Talking civil rights at the funeral of a civil rights leader?!
That's just so inappropriate - didn't they know that George W. was there? No one ever talks about civil rights in front of him. Didn't they get the memo from the bubble boy handlers?

It was EXTREMELY appropriate to talk about civil rights or lack thereof at the funeral of Coretta Scott King. If the kitchen was too hot, Georgie shouldn't have shown up. I mean, he hasn't felt impelled to talk to the NAACP in 6 years - why did he feel he had to honor this funeral with his presence? I applaud those who took this very rare opportunity to clue in George the Younger .

1. Those speeches of the Democratic Leaders today
would surly of put a smile on our sister face (Mrs. King). I am so proud of them for having the courage to do this. Bless them all. Its about time that Jr. faces the facts-He is wrong!!

2. Of course it was natural to expect it. But the media inadvertently gave
Democrats an open platform. The media has no other choice now but to influence public opinion by talking down the services. To sit back and allow people to make up their own minds is just too scary a thought for right-leaning politicos.

3. Has anyone even *asked* whether those eulogies were pre-approved?
I imagine Mr. Carter and the good Reverend talked to the families about what they were going to say, and got the go-ahead.

What a bunch of uproar over nothing. Remember when Reagan died and the media was elated because it would give a "bump" to the bush/cheney campaign? One editorial cartoon even showed bush affixing a bumper sticker to the Reagan hearse.

4. It seems like
all the truly great voices for freedom and humanity are dying these days - CSK, Rosa Parks, Pope John Paul, etc. leaving us with only the people who wipe their asses with the ideas of peace and freedom. I feel like all the sources of light in the world are going out. Kinda like when Dumbledore died.

6. There will always be new great voices - history demands it
And they are the result of the times that call for them to be great, whether they want to be or not. You might be one of the new leaders Rocknrule, if you allow yourself the freedom to care, to be passionate and to do something that matters.

I think we are awakening from a time of slumber and complacency as a nation. It time to reassert our rights as American citizens and stop this smash and grab group of thugs who want it all - our nation, our resources, our money and our rights. We've been here before as a country - I remember Kent State - those were dark days. We will survive and we will win again.

5. This was the poll of all polls.
Whatever fate (or political manuver) brought the Chimperor to Georgia today, he saw and heard what we, the people, think, know and believe. I feel Coretta and Martin, arm and arm in Heaven, looked down and inspired the speakers. Perhaps the seeds of doubt about his own path in life were sown today - though we may not see the harvest anytime soon.

That aside, the fire in our hearts was fanned by the truths spoken. Strength renewed, we are ready to continue in the struggle for justice.

Women especially have a lot to think about in the wake of the deaths of Wendy, Betty and Coretta - three women who lit the light.
