Bush to raise taxes!
Let me get this straight Bush won't raise taxes on the rich, but he'll raise them on dairy farmers"Bush calls for a 3 cent tax per hundred weight of milk".Doesn't this break his no new taxes pledge? He also wants a 5% cut to all crop payments and a change in the way the department of agriculture sets dairy support prices saving 618 million dollars. What did the dairy farmers do to piss him off?

1. and by cutting services, he is raising STATE taxes
and for states without state income taxes, their services will be cut even more, since they have no way to even raise their taxes to cover the losses

7. Our property taxes
are being 'adjusted' the first of March to better reflect 'increased property values'. Yipeeeeee.

Goddamn peasants must be made to pay their own way in this Republican ownership society. Yeeee Haaaaa!

And to hell with taxing according to ability to pay. AKA progressive taxation.

8. he's also cancelling the Social Security death benefit, according
to a guest on Al Franken's show today. The benefit amounts to $200 some dollars and goes to the surviving relative of the Social Security recipient. The guest said it's ironic because bush wants to preserve the death benefit for rich, Paris Hilton-type people, so they can inherit millions, but wants to shaft the little guys.

10. our farmers feed the world- and are treated like scum-
we can live without oil-

We cannot live without food- screw bush-

Tell me honestly folks, do you think the price of milk has increased proportionately with the cost of living???? and do you think the American FAMILY FARMER- lives 'large'???

If so, do some research- Farmers work their ass off for the LOVE of what they do- not for the big bucks, and clearly not for the 'glory'- shame on us.

We COULD feed the world- but we're too interested in feeding the beast.

15. some may, but believe me not all- especially
pre whole herd buyout. And not those who are still trying to buck the corporations that are squishing them into oblivion.- Family Farms are an endangered species-

This country isn't paying attention to the basics- and without the basics, it won't matter shit, who 'out there' is gonna hurt us (I don't think terrorism is anywhere near the threat this adm. wants to make people think it is,) it is the 'HAVES' and the 'HAVE-MOREs'-
Rich fat corporation greed mongers- who lust for more more more- and will never be satisfied.

Ignore the loss of family farms at your peril-

"The farmer comes to town with his wagon broken down
The farmer is the man who feeds us all
If you only look and see I know you will agree
That the farmer is the man who feeds us all

The farmer is the man, the farmer is the man
He buys on his credit until Fall
Then they take him by the hand
And they lead him from his land
And the merchant is the man who gets it all

The farmer is the man, the farmer is the man
He lives on his credit until Fall
With the interest rates so high
It's a wonder he don't die
But the taxes on the farmer feeds us all

Well, the banker says he's broke and the merchant stops and smoke
But they forget that it's the farmer that feeds them all
It would put them to the test if the farmer took a rest
And they'd know that it's the farmer that feeds them all

The farmer is the man, the farmer is the man
Lives on his credit until Fall
Well, his pants are wearing thin
His condition, it's a sin
'Cause the taxes on the farmer feeds us all"

12. They knew this was coming. Here's an article from Sept 2004
Time to pay the piper. Besides, I resent the fact that most dairy farmers add bovine growth hormone to milk. I won't support them one bit!

USDA Manipulating Dairy Policy for Bush Votes?
Mixing milk and politics; USDA official criticized for linking policy, Bush votes

Chicago Tribune - 9/25/04

Larry Salathe, a 27-year veteran of the USDA, also suggested
that his agency would hold off on policies that could anger dairy farmers --
including proposing a new milk tax on them and eliminating a price support
program--until after the election.

<SNIP>

The program Salathe suggested may be eliminated after the election--the Milk
Income Loss Contract program--helps small dairy farmers, who are clustered
in the Midwest.

Though California produces more milk than any other state, other states have
far more dairy farms. For instance, Wisconsin has 16,886 dairy farms, most
in the nation, compared with California's 2,793.

In the final page of his presentation, titled "Election Year Fallout,"
Salathe said the growing federal budget deficit "will be addressed after the
election." But the deficit, he noted, increases the likelihood of the Milk
Income Loss Contract program being dropped and may warrant a "small producer
assessment," or a milk tax.
