List Presidential Lies. ALL Presidents. I'll start: The Gulf of Tonkin.
Other memorable lies?

How about "I did not have sex with that woman"?

Of course 43 will lead the pack, maybe followed closely by 40.

I daresay they've ALL lied to the detriment of their people -- with the possible exception of Harrison, who may not have been in office long enough to lie.

2. All people of power lie
It's a question of what they lie about

I think Ray McGovern said it best at the DSM Hearing

"We're not talking Georgetown parlor games here. Or worse still, White House fraternity pranks. These are consequential, death-dealing lies."

9. Grover Cleveland....
lied about having cancer -- had an operation on a ship in NY Harbor -- wasn't admitted until about 20 years after he died.

6. W.H. Harrison did speak for 2 hours at his inauguration.
He's bound to have lied at some point.

My favorite lie? "When the president does it, it is not illegal."

7. Will Durst: "Oooo, the President lied? What's that, 43 in a row?"
He has a point there.

11. Truman: August 6, 1945; Kennedy: April 18, 1961; Reagan; 11/13/86
Truman's lie: 08/06/1945

"The first atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima, a military base. That was because we wished in this first attack to avoid, in so far as possible, the killing of civilians."

Kennedy's lie: 04/18/1961

"I have previously stated and I repeat now that the United States intends no military intervention in Cuba."

(one of) Reagan's lie: 11/13/1986:
"We did not -- repeat -- did not trade weapons or anything else for hostages -- nor will we."
