1. You didn't know that...
...Lincoln had to give up his cell phone after the first week or two because there was no way he could recharge its batteries using a fireplace, a wooden shovel, and a piece of charcoal...

2. That had to have been one of the most over-reaching statements ever made.
My jaw dropped when I heard him talk about these former presidents who had authorized surveillance. As if anyone in their right mind would compare Washington's situation with that of george bush. He sounded like a kid trying to explain to mommy and daddy why he should be allowed to do something just because his older brothers were allowed to do it.

Heaven help us.

5. It's true
Unbeknownst to Ben Franklin, George had a soup can attatched to the other end of the kite string. He thought Ole' Ben was banging Martha.

And there were soup cans then. Ben just invented it.

6. Did you, by any chance, capture Sessions last round too?
I was re-watching the end of the hearings again last night and found something that Gonzo said very telling. I stopped the tivo, transcribed the answer that Gonzo gave about "domestic to domestic" spying ... then my computer spazzed and I lost it. I think that round is key to where we need to go with this from this point. It made it very clear that there were other "programs" and other issues we should be raising. I think, it did this more than any other response he gave yesterday.

It was in response to an open ended request for a response from Sessions. He talked about "other tools" that were available Constitutionally and that they were using them all. Now, we can agree, I think, that most of us don't think what they have already admitted to is Constitutional. So, what else do they think the Constitution allows them to do, as far as domestic to domestic is concerned.

If we lose site of the "program" spin, by falling into the trap of just focusing on what they have already confirmed, we will not be the champion of this issue. We need to pay close attention to what they haven't confirmed and this response goes right to the heart of that.

If you have that clip, I would appreciate knowing when you get it up. Thanks for all you do!

8. Not Specter - Sessions
Sessions last round. He bloviated for a while, how he supports what the president did and blah, blah blah. Then he asked Gonzo to respond to what he had just said. Gonzo talked about domestic to domestic, which he hadn't really addressed in just that way for the rest of the hearing. He talked about Constitutional tools and that they were "using every tool available to them".

Otherwise, it was a lack-luster moment for Sessions. But, Sessions gave him an open ended response question and Gonzo put his foot in his mouth, IMHO. Friendly fire in my opinion.

10. I was somewhere between 30 to 60 minutes before the end of the
hearing. I remember that because my tivo would only let me scan back so far. A tv was on in another room and my cable company did one of those annoying Emergency tests that I could hear from the other room. Then when that test came up on my tivo, I could figure out how long I had paused it for. Make sense? LOL

Anyway, I think it was somewhere between 30 and 60 minutes before the end.

Thank you for looking for this for me. :)

12. Yes! that's it. thank you!
Didn't you find his answer interesting and quite telling? And the little smirk, talking to a friend and all, as if it were a private conversation.

Or is it just me? Am I the only one that sees that as an admission that they ARE doing other things, just calling it by another name?

14. I absolutely believe that. I'm listening right now to Feinstein Round 1
and there's a point, again, in which Feinstein asks if the president authorized OTHER stuff besides the NSA surv pgm and Gonzo says "I am not comfortable with going down the road of saying yes or no". Well, why the feck not?
