School bars director from taping Carter
WALTHAM, Mass. - Brandeis University has denied Academy Award-winning director Jonathan Demme permission to film a speech by Jimmy Carter that he wanted to include in a documentary about the former president.

Demme said he had hoped Tuesday's speech and the planned question-and-answer session afterward would be part of a powerful ending to his documentary, "He Comes in Peace."

"They have in a way diminished everyone's ability to add to the debate, including the Brandeis students themselves," Demme told The Boston Globe.

1. sheet hills. or shit heels. At the very time that top israeli media
and journalists are agreeing with Carter, the AIPAC whores and asskissers refuse to even consider that his book is accurate, not an attack against the state of Israel.

14. and those who attack it, do it out of ignorance, not experience.
kinda like AIPAC being shoved in a corner and being accused of causing all the shit that they actually did cause.

7. Jim, I love ya man, but
When the topic is anything involving Israel you strike me as a knee-jerk reactionary. Sorry.

5. But do you disagree with Brandies here?
The university spokeswoman says that the logistics of including a documentary film crew were too difficult to accomodate.

From the article:

"I conveyed my regrets to Mr. Demme — and I have utmost respect for his work — but we simply do not have the staff or the flexibility to accommodate this," Miles said.

Is this not reasonable?

8. does Demme have a right to make $$ off of Carter's talk?
does he have a right to upstage the event?

does he have the right to use the images of all in attendance without a release or waiver?

does he have CARTER'S permission to film the speech?

if admission is charged, does he and his crew have paid admissions or does he want freebies while the peons pay up?

Is he entitled to do what he wants because he has an acadamy award?

Mr. Demme sure has a high opinion of himself and his value to the planet: "They have in a way diminished everyone's ability to add to the debate, including the Brandeis students themselves," Demme told The Boston Globe.

10. Let's try to not read more into this
"She said the university had previously decided to exclude documentary crews due to their special logistical challenges, particularly because documentary crews needed signed releases from participants."

Brandeis can be held liable for a host of problems resulting from something like this. Very possible that Demme wanted in for free, and Brandeis wasn't willing to accept the expense.

15. In the real world
Did you see on CNN when Israelis tried to hold a peaceful demonstration about the Israeli settlements, treatment of the Palestinians, and the fact that they believed the Palestinians had a right to a separate state, they were beaten and abused by the Israeli police? So it's not just those "damn Palestinians".
