Does a Hillary run put an Al Gore run out of the question?
Now that Hillary is (officially) running, is a presidential bid by Al Gore out of the question? Given the Clintons' longstanding ties with Al, does Hillary's entrance into the race give him the red light? Could there be some behind-the-scenes arm-twisting ("it's Hillary's turn")? I certainly hope this doesn't happen.

Thoughts?

7. I agree, how the candidates address climate change
will dictate if or how he enters. If he feels they are all blowin it off, he'll jump. Really, nothing else matters, the world will have to be united to fight this. We need China, Russia, Europe, SAmerica, everybody to ccoperate. Gore knows this and he'll put the screws to the candidates to address it.

2. Perhaps
Depends. Hillary might bail real early, she might support Gore if he enters. Depends on the landscape...:kick:

6. I don't think he would run
BUT...if another Dem wins office I think he will def be appointed to something regarding the environment and I think that is the kind of job he would want.

5. No. In fact, Gore should know that only he could likely beat Hillary.
Edwards and Obama are lightweights compared to Hillary and Gore. Kerry and Clark are DOA.

13. I think Hilary's run is a Fantasy
by many of unhappy liberal and progressive voters.

It signifies a return to the Clinton years, a time before the nightmare of Bush and his Gang of Thieves.

In the long run, the baggage she carries could well nullify her chances of winning, as the NeoCons will beat the Clinton hating drum ceaselessly.

I am , and always will be, an admirer of Clinton and his Presidency, and I imagine Hilary would be a pretty good President in her own right, but I do not see it happening at this time.

I could be wrong, but...I don't think so.

16. It might prompt one rather than preclude one.
Al's a cagey dude about any possible candidacy. We don't know who he's called and about what. There's a chance he might keep pushing the global warming issue, which is a noble gift to the world, or he may ride it to an announcement for another run at the White House. He's keeping his cards close to his chin, which is politically smart.

If he starts thinking that another Clinton is going after the job Bush cheated him out of, he might get his dog up and jump in any ol' time.

It wouldn't surprise me one bit.

I also think it nixes the possibility of a candidacy of perennial DU favorite Wesley Clark.

I don't think it's because of close ties to the Clintons, but rather because of MONEY.

Hillary has and will get A LOT OF MONEY.

22. Hillary is so polarizing that it will enhance Gore's chances.
This is Gore's election, if he wants it. If he doesn't, John Edwards will be the one to beat. Obama will make a great VP.

24. Gore and Hillary have been bumping heads since 1992
They do not like each other, despite the public words to the contrary. They started to clash in 1992 when Hillary tried to take over the vice presidency from Gore, and it's been all downhill from there.

25. I think Gore has pretty much put Gore out of the question:

Appears very unlikely that he's running when you hear him speak.
