"Democrat" party? Fine. Let's own it.
So you are going to let the regressives change the narrative again? Really?

In the face of literally hundreds and hundreds of scandals- with the exception of Jefferson- D- you are going to let the regressives yet again change the narrative into a question of a childish attempt at a slur of party name?

Fine.
I'm not. These jackals can prove themselves fools everytime they open their bloated mouths to say "Democrat" party. Because that is exactly what they are doing.

See, the Democrat party is governing for the people.
The Democrat party is making real changes that are having positive effects on this wounded country.
The Democrat party is not engulfed in corruption scandals, nor is it engulfed in sexual scandals.
The Democrat party has, in just a few short weeks, done more for us- the American people- than the Republicans did in 12 years.

And everyone knows it.

While I would love to hear one of our elected Representatives say "You sound like a moron when you say Democrat party" I'm not holding my breath. I think at this point the Democrat party is too busy fixing the Republican disasters to worry about a schoolyard slur.

So "Democrat" party? Whatever you say Hard/Factor/Country clown.

We are busy governing.

1. This is the Democratic Party and they don't get to choose our name.
You may call them the Republic Party or the Repudiated Party if you're in the mood. Or treasonous, greedy pieces of shit, I don't care.

2. Surprisingly
about the only person I've heard or seen on TV correcting this "Democrat party" nonsense was Chris Matthews correcting that Ron Christy guy on Hardball. I've heard Christy self-correct himself twice since then. It doesn't seem to bother the politicians too much - or at least they're not saying anything about it.

4. Keith brought it up too when Bush used the term in a news conference.
In retaliation, Olbermann made a point of snidely saying "republic party."

5. I was at a Democratic Party Leadership meeting this week
The facilitator of that meeting, a committed, strong Democrat -- one who is in a volunteer leadership role in our local party, consistently used the term the "Democrat Party." I cringed each and every time she did. She is not an uneducated woman. She is not a freeper. She had no ill intent in using the incorrect terminology. It seemed almost a habit -- like how some people add an "r" to the word "idea" -- But, I will be making an effort to pull her aside the next time I see her and kindly correct her.

3. A few months ago, I corrected my congressman on his use of the term
"Democrat Party." Guess what happened to him a few weeks later? He lost!

7. This is why we can't make English our national language.
Edited on Sat Jan-20-07 06:02 PM by sfexpat2000
Too many Freepers can't speak it. They can't conjugate verbs -- they can't form simple English sentences. Adjectives must be just too much for them.

I agree with you. :)

10. It would be perfectly correct English
English allows the use of nouns as adjectives in for describing collections, or objects primarily associated with the noun - eg "the Taxpayer Party". See http://english-zone.com/grammar/adjective3.html

8. They know how important language is and use it against us again and again
Look how they redefined liberal. Look at "clear skies initiative" and "no child left behind." They know the importance of language. They had an all encompassing strategy to win control of America. Language was one of the many fronts. While we were busy governing, they pulled the foundation right out from under us. Media, language, religion. They are insidious.

We should not make the same mistake twice. "Democrat party" is an insult. And we should not give them the power to redefine who we are.

11. Sometimes it seems like word-play
is all they have and it constantly amazes me how they can use rhetorical tricks to browbeat the MSM into submission.

The catch for them is that even though many people can be easily coerced by a few strong words, when they eventully realise that they've been had they are as mad as hell and there's no winnning them back.

12. Why is "Democrat party" considered an insult?
Edited on Sun Jan-21-07 08:49 AM by mwb970
We are Democrats who comprise a party. I agree that the usage is kind of silly, but I'm having trouble finding the hidden insult. It's just two words.

When I was a kid I could make my younger brother cry by calling him "Benji LaRue" (made up name). Whenever I was mad, I hurled this terrible "insult" at him. Is this like that?
