Hillary's ties to the left
okay, so she threw her hat in the ring. She has a very real chance of being our nominee. What will the GOP do to smear her and can she defeat the smear? I have heard a lot of about her former ties to Saul Alinksy, Black Panthers, National Lawyers Guild, support for Sandinistas ect ect...is any of this true? If so I think we know what to expect...they will attempt to swift boat her as a China loving commie. Can anyone verify that any of her alleged ties are true?

2. I'm not using it as an attack
Edited on Sat Jan-20-07 02:36 PM by BayCityProgressive
I am just saying those groups are pretty far left and the majority of Americans probably don't support them. I am a member of many left wing groups. I just could see commercials of hillary standing with black panthers run all over the south. I think it will be horrifying to behold when the GOP unleashes on her.

19. Maybe not, and
I didn't think that you were using it as an attack. My point is that what is wrong with that? If the American people don't support them, so what? Should she be ashamed of what she's done?

If she is, she should just come out and say so, not attempt to cover it up. Once you start to lie and cover-up, they've got you. If she's not, she should proudly say so and attempt to educate the American people as to why she is right and they are wrong.

This may, or may not, win her the primries and the general elections. But America needs to be edcated anyway. If not Hillary, then who?

22. Those ties never existed - check Snopes - she is a progressive but only
her support - her pushing for - single payer national health in 93 befor her task force was formed and told only an HMO approach was acceptable to Bill - is all that far left.

She is more "moderate" that myself as far as I can tell.

The right went nuts when they had to fight her over single payer national health - and that was all behind closed doors so as to not to anger Bill and change Bill's mind and his preference for trying for insurance company support.

3. The smear against Hillary will be endless.
It will be difficult to keep up with all of it.

The big plus is that the right will not be able to decide who terrifies them more -- Obama or Hillary.

It will be fun to watch.

5. I actually
personally prefer Obama but think Hillary is more likely to win out of the two of them. I don't think he could hold up under the pressure of the smears like her. I think she would really slap back hard too.

13. My preference, as well.
I think either could win the Dem nomination, but I don't think Hillary could win the national election.

with the public. She will be harder to swiftboat because of that.

8. I am more worried about her right wing ties as well
once again...I am more left wing than the Dem party so if she does have left wing ties I would love it. I am merely saying that most in the general public wouldnt be too amused by it. Is it now a crime to ask any critical questions of a Democrat?

16. She doesn't care about your worries
She figures she can completely ignore you. In fact she will be running as far away from you as possible.

Of course you will be voting for her. That is a given.

I don't think so.

I hope Hillary is the DLC version of Waterloo.

10. Isn't the public already aware of this shit?
The only good thing about a Hillary nomination is that at least her baggage (real or perceived) is already out there and known.

14. Let's play a game: "How ridiculous will the brownshirt smears be?"
1) She is the secret grand-love-child of Trotsky himself!

2) Not only did she murder Vince Foster with the pruning shears, it was part of a satanic ritual.

3) She was a founding member of al-qaeda and personally ditrects the day-to-day operation of Osama Bin laden, with the goal of complete destruction of the USA and western civilization.

18. Let's add some more: she eats fried embryos for breakfast.
She will outlaw guns, prayer, tax exemption for churches, put all kids into public nurseries at age of 6 months to be raised for the public good, and also hates NASCAR and MLB.

I don't think I've even seen you around since the last primary. Well except to smear Nancy Pelosi. Are you going to start up with the Obama/Osama shit too?? Weren't you one who smeared Kerry on his war record and skull and bones shit too?

I just don't remember you being a very big Democratic Party fan. It always seems like it's the far left that drags up this stupid shit that the far right ultimately uses to destroy us.

23. Her history is one of helping minorities/poor - if that is "left" - other than
that and a fling with the idea of single payer national health in 93 before the task force was formed, I do not know of anthing she was more than a moderate/left progressive on.

24. Howzabout that war in Iraq?
She's to the right of some rethugs on the war. And 1993 was a long time ago. How'd that flag-burning thing go? Or the law she proposed to restrict video-games? Yep, there's some lefty legislation... :sarcasm:

A lot of folks find fight game violence something they do not want there kids to be into - esp the really bloody crap. So a disclosure law on the content offends some value of the left?

As to the she had heard the neo-con reports coming from CIA/NSA while First Lady - and that Bill thought them weak. She made the bad judgment that Bush saying those reports were now strong made it likely those reports were strong. The IWR required a lot to be done before going to war - and none of it was done by Bush - indeed, by requiring so much before war the IWR got a large minority of the Dem votes in Congress.

But score one for Obama - he had the correct read on the IWR and Hillary did not.

Should that subject line read "LIES to the left" - like that she's "left" at all?
