Next Week's Friday News Dump: Halliburton 4th Quarter Earnings
http://biz.yahoo.com/ap/070119/the_week_ahead.html?.v=2

http://finance.yahoo.com/q/ce?s=HAL

Here's what their announcement looked like last year: http://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/45012/000004501206000050/0000045012-06-000050-index.htm

There is likely to be some discussion of the spinoff of KBR, and the effect that has had on the financials: http://www.sec.gov/cgi-bin/browse-edgar?company=&CIK=kbr&filenum=&State=&SIC=&owner=include&action=getcompany

It will be interesting to see whether or not the earnings call includes questions and answers about the likely impact of THE SURGE on Halliburton's projected "earnings" this year.

1. ohh, earnings will be up a billion or two
can't send 21,000 troops into battle without halliburton monogramed bath towels

:sarcasm: did you know that in an emergency - 30 or 40 carefully folded halliburton monagrammed bath towels strapped to your chest may replace body armor?

6. Corporate earnings don't tell the story that needs to be told
Corporate earnings are calculated after compensation of senior executaves has been extracted.

7. Halliburton may not reflect the real story behind their earnings,
but perhaps the brave men who are using the Articles of Redress will. They are just getting started, and perhaps we can help them tell their story by keeping information like this voted up. It would be very disgusting to know how much they stand to profit from their surge.

8. True that, earnings are certainly part of the picture
Earnings usually impact senior ececutives' compensation, particuarly when stock options are taken into account. Most Americans do not understand the schemes these truly evil people employ to plunder the profits that have truly been earned by all of us.

9. Executive Comp: You May Be Interested to Know That...
... Chairman Barney Frank has it as his top key issue: http://financialservices.house.gov/ (See the menu to the right) ...

... not to mention that greater disclosures will be required regarding this issue, beginning this year: http://www.sec.gov/rules/final/2006/33-8765fr.pdf

Kudos to such commenters as Rich Trumka, Secretary-Treasurer of the AFL-CIO, which pushed hard for many of the new reforms: http://www.sec.gov/rules/proposed/s70306.shtml

11. Thanks, I did not know that
Controlling senior executive excesses is a topic of keen interest to me but no one person can adequately follow everything going on in Congress right now.

I've been especially focused on the Senate Intelligence committee.

I don't know how I managed to stay informed before I hooked up at DU. Guess I didn't.

12. Staying informed
Yeh, I can't believe how much I missed before hooking up at DU!

Thank you for the thread to the Senate Intelligence committee. It really is hard to keep up with everything going on with Congress nowadays.
