I mean if you think about it, I highly doubt one adult would be able to walk up to another and spank them without being arrested. Why allow it for kids?

If they want to spank, they should be allowed to spank.

However, the issue that comes into play is how far does spanking go before it's considered abuse?

I was spanked. On the butt, on the hands. Little spanks. No real harm done. Sometimes it taught me a lesson, sometimes it did not.

But the other adult you might walk up to and spank is not your property. Hands off in this case.


It's a tough situation. I see nothing wrong with little spanks. My only concern is when it becomes abuse.

But I would rather leave it up to parents to decide how they want to treat their kids.

But children are property of their parents or guardians. If you have a child, it's yours. You owe it.
Just like a pet or a sweater.
I know it may seem odd to describe it like that but that's how I see it.

I tend not to tell a parent how they should treat their kids. It's not my business.

Would you care if you saw me as a child with swelled red whelps on my legs and hips that had just stopped bleeding from the "spanking/whipping" with the switch that was the size of your index finger? Or would you figure it was just "none of your business"?
Its never a good thing to hit another person unless you are protecting yourself or someone else.
Oh, and it took me years of counselling to get over the abuse, physical and mental.

child services to make them aware of the situation and then leave it up to the professionals. But those are extreme circumstances.

Like I said above, I'm not sure when spanking becomes abuse. It's a tough line.
