Libby January 2007 Trial Date Due to Lawyer's Scheduling Conflict

Can they do that?

Scooter gets a trial date

Don't make any vacation plans for next January. Scooter Libby's trial in the Valerie Plame case has just been set for Jan. 8, 2007.

According to the Associated Press, U.S. District Judge Reggie Walton had hoped to set the trial for this September, which would have put it on the calendar just before November's midterm elections. But a "scheduling conflict" from one of Libby's lawyers forced him to move it to January instead.

1. We need to do an investigation of this judge and how he was selected for
both the Libby and Sibyl Edmond's trials. He ruled against ungagging Sibyl and owes one of the Bush's for his appointment. I think he got another recent appointment to an important bush corruption case.

2. This delay could prove to be very efficient ...
... by January 2007, there will be more indicted Repubs. They can try them all together, and save the taxpayers' the expense of separate trials.

Ever the optimist ...

3. What BS
delay the trial so no Republican dirty laundry gets out before the mid-term election.

4. That is part,
though not all, of the reason. Fitzgerald also needed time to have literally hundreds of pages of notes transcribed from Scooter's handwriting to English.
