US Mulls Iran Attack in Early 2007
This was sent to me via e-mail. I don't know the legitimacy of "menews", so I posted in GD. This should not really be breaking news to anyone anyway. The writing appears to be on the wall.

WASHINGTON -- The United States has signaled to Gulf Arab allies that an attack on Iran could take place in 2007.

Diplomatic sources said the Bush administration has raised the prospect of a U.S. strike on Iran over the next few months. The sources said the discussions with Gulf Cooperation Council states have also been conducted by U.S. Central Command as well as the U.S. intelligence community.

"There has not been a U.S. commitment, but the discussions have been interpreted as an expression of intent," the source said. "Right now, the U.S. message is that the GCC must get ready for any contingency."

On Tuesday, U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice meets foreign ministers from the GCC states as well as Egypt and Jordan. The sources said Ms. Rice intends to brief the foreign ministers on U.S. strategy toward Iraq and Iran in a meeting scheduled to take place in Kuwait.

Stories like this could also be just part of an effort to keep the pressure on Iran and further destabalize it.

If this happens, and it's anything more than bombs and missiles from 25K feet, I don't see how you avoid a draft.

1. Even if it is only bombs and missiles from 25K feet
Does anyone in their right mind think the Iranians are just going to sit back and take it? That a nation of 70 million people -- more than double that of Iraq -- isn't going to be a bit upset about the US bombing and killing them?

If Bush** does this he'll expand the terrorist breeding ground by 640,000 square miles. And that's only if the rest of the region doesn't erupt in response.
