Democrats, Congress, Accountability and Revolution: A Special Comment
Knowing full well, the manifold crimes that President George W. Bush has committed, most of which are impeachable, and even criminal offenses, the only good remedy that needs to be done here is to investigate and impeach President Bush and his entire Administration for severe political crimes, as well as ordinary crimes and war crimes (which can be done if either impeachment fails and Bush finishes his term, or he resigns from office). With President Bush’s poll numbers dropping like a rock, both overall and on several issues, particularly Iraq, the American people are now increasingly willing to hold President Bush and his Administration accountable for their actions. Even more so, the American people are willing to hold President Bush and his Administration accountable for their actions via investigations, oversight, and surprisingly, even via impeachment, if all the evidence and facts that are gathered point to that route. My contention, however, is that for the past six years, all of the President’s actions and any evidence that is needed for oversight, investigations and accountability are clearly in view, and have been done so for the last six years, since President Bush took office on January 20th, 2001, and all, if not a majority of these actions point to impeachment.

On Wednesday, November 8th, 2006, the American people spoke in one strong voice that they will no longer stand for the “tyranny of the majority”, who have not only used their powers in the government, but, with the help of the President have abused it. Yes, I am referring here to the Republican Party, who used their one-party totalitarian rule in the United States Government, and allow for the Constitution to get shredded in front of the eyes of the American people; as well as allow for people, who are both within President Bush’s Administration and the Republican Party, and have ties to them, from the outside, to get away with their innumerable crimes. It is the “Rubber Stamping Republicans”, more than the so-called “spineless Democrats” in Congress, who have allowed all of this to happen, undaunted and unchallenged.

The American people have spoken, and they said, “Enough is enough”.

With the Democrats back in power after twelve years of political rule of the Republicans, six of them being absolute rule of President Bush and his Republican Party, the Constitution, the rule of law, as well as the system of checks and balances, can finally be restored. An open, honest, and accountable government, who listens to the will and whim of the American people, who the elected officials work for, is in place, much to the relief of a majority of the American people. Now, Congress can finally get back to solving almost all of the problems of the American people.

They key word here is “almost”…

Other than passing laws, which increase the health, safety and well-being of this country, and its people, such as health care, education, the environment, Social Security, tax/economic reform, and national security, our Congress, particularly the Democrats, need to make sure that our American government is open (i.e. transparent), honest and accountable – something that has been sorely lacking in our government for the past six years. This includes the use of both investigations and oversight to make sure that the rule of law is in place, and more importantly, that the system of checks and balances is not disturbed or even destroyed even if the dreaded “I” word needs to be used…impeachment.

This brings me to my main point of this Special Comment. For the last six years, President Bush and his Republican Party have run rampart over our Constitution – using it to violate our Constitutional rights as American citizens, commit ordinary, as well as political crimes, and start and perpetuate wars based not only on lies and manipulated intelligence, but based on greed, oil, and world domination (in the false guise of “spreading democracy in the world”), resulting in tremendous chaos, as well as rampart death and destruction. President Bush and his Administration still invoke the September 11th terrorist attacks to justify the so-called “war on terror”, which has all but failed, as the main culprit of the September 11th terrorist attacks – Osama bin Laden, is still alive, with his henchmen, plotting the next move against the American people, and their interests, while laughing at our innumerable failures. President Bush and his Administration used and abused the patriotic fervor, present after the September 11th terrorist attacks to violate the Constitution, the Geneva Conventions, and to go to war against a sovereign nation, which neither had anything to do with the September 11th terrorist attacks, no had any of the so-called “Weapons of Mass Destruction” (WMDs), which essentially distracted us from the real purpose of this “global war on terror”, which is to get the real perpetrators of the September 11th terrorist attacks – Osama bin Laden and his henchmen. Instead of catch these perpetrators, we instead go to war in both Afghanistan and Iraq to build “puppet governments”, used as stepping stones to more greed, oil, and both socio-economic, as well as political power, in the Middle East.

This is the true dream of President Bush, his Republican Party, and their neo-con nut jobs, which support them, and it must stop, NOW! With the Democrats back in charge of Congress, such oversight and accountability, using investigations and hearings can begin, even if impeachment is needed, in order to restore both the rule of law and the system of checks and balances in our government, then so be it!

This brings me to the “main point of the main point” my Special Comment. Almost every action or at least, a good majority of the actions of President Bush and his Administration are indeed impeachable, and warrant investigation, impeachment, conviction, and removal from office for “Treason, Bribery, and other High Crimes and Misdemeanors”, according to Article II, Section IV of the United States Constitution. Yet the Democrats, who are now in power, knowing full well all of the acts and actions of President Bush and his entire Administration, a good majority of them being impeachable offenses, downright and outright REFUSE to impeach President Bush and his Administration, even going as far as taking impeachment “off the table”, to the shock, of those citizens who simply want justice, and not for one political party to gain absolute power in government. Even if all of the investigations, hearings, and oversight pointed strongly in favor of impeaching President Bush, and even if all of the evidence gathered disgusts and outrages the American people to the point of making them DEMAND that President Bush and his Administration be impeached, the Democrats in Congress won’t do it anyways.

And here lies the problem we face…

If the Democrats in Congress do not impeach President Bush and his Administration for their crimes, even if all of the investigations, hearings, and oversight pointed strongly in favor of impeaching President Bush, and even if all of the evidence gathered disgusts and outrages the American people to the point of making them DEMAND that President Bush and his Administration be impeached, they will be seen as complicit in the manifold crimes and grievances against the American people. They, along with their Republican counterparts in Congress, will be both seen and deemed as equally guilty of the crimes that President Bush and his Administration have committed against the American people. Having done that, the very trust that the American people have for their elected representatives in Congress will fall to the point of having them want to do await with not only Congress and its elected officials, but the entire United States Government, which brings me to an interesting passage in the Preamble of the “Declaration of Independence”, written by Thomas Jefferson on July 4th, 1776:


“That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or abolish it, and institute new Government on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely effect their Safety and Happiness”


Using this very principle, the American people, having tired of President Bush, his Administration, and the Congress, who are both complicit in and guilty of, crimes that President Bush and his Administration have committed against them, if they do not hold them accountable for their actions, can do away with the current government in power and institute a new one “as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness”. This can happen now, or in 2008, when more seats in Congress are up for grabs, and when the White House is also at stake. The choice is yours, and yours alone, America. If you are so outraged of how President Bush and his Administration have been both governing and abusing their Constitutional and legal authorities, then it is both your right, as well as your imperative to demand to your members of Congress to hold the President and his Administration accountable for their actions. And if you are so outraged of how Congress refuses to hold President Bush and his Administration accountable for their actions, especially if they outright refuse to impeach President Bush and his administration, making them both complicit in, and guilty of, the crimes that President Bush and his Administration have committed against the American people, then it is both your right and your imperative to do away the government and institute a new one, especially in light that the government has repeatedly overstepped its bounds, and have abused its authority, which brings me to another juicy tidbit in the Preamble of the “Declaration of Independence”:


“But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security”.


Your future and your security are at stake here, America. Are you willing to let it be compromised now because you do not want to hold the current government accountable for their actions, or will you take action to ensure that your government is open, honest, and accountable, and that the people you elected listen to what you have to say? Again, the choice is yours, America, and you must choose wisely, not only for the sake of this country, but for the sake of current and future generations of Americans.

And that is my special comment...

2. Welcome to DU, BigNeeravT
Yesterday my thoughts turned toward the silence John Edwards mentioned in a recent speech. He said it was betrayal and I agree. The thought of keeping quiet at a time like this is not only unacceptable, it`s dangerous.

The "long train of abuses" you mentioned should be evidence enough that citizens must begin to take action. No more making exuses for silence. No more acceptance of style over substance. No more contributions to candidates who prefer empty calculations over definitive positions. No more choosing hollow rhetoric and staged backdrops over courageous actions. Enough is enough. If we don`t act now to get our country back, we have only ourselves to blame. IMPEACH!

7. Indeed. and that will be the case.
If our Congress, especially our Democrats, do not hold Busha and his war criminal accountable for thier action, and as I said in my journal Congress will end up being just as giulty for the crimes that Bush and Company have committeed against the American people.

9. I agree - and believe that impeachment won't even occur - Bush-Cheney will resign FIRST

before the investigations get fully underway.

They don't have the mental strength to have their actual crimes fully revealed, just as Nixon didn't - and Nixon had way more character than either of them.

And Dems MUST take their lessons from history and what the ACTUAL RESULT is of closing the books on criminal actions of a GOP administration.

The cost to this nation is too high - 9-11 and this Iraq war are the results of it. Dems MUST stop protecting secrecy and privilege - it is killing what democracy this nation has left.
