Deliberate destruction of U.S Military?
From the first Gulf War the VA has determined that 250,000 troops are now permanently disabled, 15,000 troops are dead and over 425,000 troops are ill and slowly dying from what the Department of Defense still calls a “mystery disease.” How many more will have to die before action is taken?

4. Those casualties were to protect the Saudi Sheikhs and Gulf Emirs

American soldiers are just the hired help -- very replaceable.

But, if I really hated America, I would want Bush or his designated successor to stay in office until the job is truly done. That would require him to start another, bigger war with much larger casualties and a partial cutoff of the oil flow -- $100 a barrel on world markets would do nicely to further enrich the parties BushCo has been serving so well in the Gulf.

Yet another reason for them to want to see us destroy ourselves -- 9/11 was part of a failed ploy by a faction of the Saudi Royals and some of the multinationals to seize power in Saudi Arabia. Bush, Sr. is trying to play both sides off each other. Dubya is clueless, but open to practically any crazy, violent scheme. What a mess.

We really need to sweep these monsters out the door.

2. My VA is jammed with veterans
Edited on Fri Feb-03-06 10:30 AM by Ezlivin
When I go for a check-up I see long lines and crowded rooms. If I wanted to see the dentist it's only a six or eight month wait. I waited one year for a simple procedure.

I'm 100% service connected, so I can "jump" the head of any line. I stay healthy and away from the VA so that other veterans have a shot at getting care.

I was told that the Spinal Cord Injury clinic was doing well (I'm a charter member) and doesn't lack funds, but it does lack personnel.

I'm a life member of both the DAV (Disabled American Veterans) and the PVA (Paralyzed Veterans of America) and the leadership of both organizations has been screaming over budget restrictions and cuts. And the government is cutting down on the time they have to speak!

Chairman of the House Veterans Affairs Committee Steve Buyer, R-Ind., has implemented new rules: Veterans groups must submit their written testimony for budget requests and policy initiatives to the committee by noon on Feb. 6. Two days later, veterans groups will present their testimony to the committee -- but, for the first time in 60 years, they'll be constrained by a three-minute limit. Source:Alternet

7. Allow me to respectfully thank you., Ezlivin
It's good to hear from folks who have first-hand experience of the human costs of empire. I hope we're successful in preventing more of the same in the next couple years.

They're not trying to destroy the military, just using it hard and not caring one whit about individuals.

5. the bush administration is trying to destroy the military as fast as it
can. Both it's hardware, for reasons plain to any procurement officer, and it's combat personel, for reasons plain to any strategist with a mercenary army and a weakened counter-neocon fighting force on his things to do list.

6. Of course conservatives want to destroy the military.
Just like they want to destroy everything American (our freedom, our economy, our honor, our laws, etc.). As long as a few very rich people get richer, nothing else matters to them.

8. That was one of several reason I was against the Iraq invasion.
It was mentioned in the letter I sent to my senators. The powers in charge of our country don't care about the people in the military. They can always come up with the draft and send more people to their death. I think the bigger question is the deliberate destruction of the USA by invading countries and mishandling the occupation - while give tax cuts to the rich.

9. There was an article posted on DU about a month ago
theorizing that the destruction of the regular army was the grand plan so that they could increase use of privatized military companies - less oversight, and no outraged public

wish I had bookmarked it
