Do you suppose this might work?
It is very difficult to get a lot of conservatives to engage their critical thinking skills. They do have them, many of them hold jobs which require critical thinking to stay employed. But when the subject becomes politics, the part of the brain that does the critical thinking apparently wanders out for a beer.

It's the talking points that turn a potentially rational person into a Non-Thinking Drone (NTD) because once you've been given a talking point...that's all you need to know, right?
E.g. 'fight them over there so we don't have to fight them over here.' There's no need to initiate critical thinking since the hard part -the thinking- has already been done FOR you.

So...let's just drag that point out in the open and into the light...that your thinking is being done for you.

You: "Ask me a question...doesn't have to be political...in fact it's better if it's not.
Go ahead, ask."
NTD: "OK...what color do you think I should have my house painted?"
You: "You know, that's just too hard a decision for you to have to make. You shouldn't have to worry your little head about something big and important like that; it's just too complicated. Tell you what. I'll call my friend Karl/Dick/Donald because THEY know all about house colors and what would be right. They'll tell you just what to do. You won't have to worry about a thing."
NTD "WTF? I just asked you a simple question and you go treating me like I'm stupid, can't make a decision...and not only that, you effing PATRONIZE me!! Where do you get off....(etc, etc)"
You "So you don't appreciate being patronized, treated like you're stupid and unable to make a decision for yourself just because you ask for some information?"
NTD "Damn straight I don't!!!"
You "It's not only insulting, it's disrespectful, isn't it...basically being told that you're so brainless that you have to be told what to think because you are unable or too lazy to think for yourself."
NTD "Grrrr....."
You "You don't like being told what to think. You don't like being treated with disrespect, as if you're incapable of forming an informed opinion, so one must be spoonfed to you."
NTD "That's right. Hey...wait a minute. Where are you going with this?"
You "Think about it for a bit. You are quite capable of doing so."

Think it might wake some people up?

1. LOL
I've been known to get both sides of the conversation in my head too. Problem is, it NEVER comes out that way. EVER. :)

3. I know...
but it's worth a try maybe?
If somebody thinks they're being manipulated and treated with no respect it often gets their attention when nothing else will...

4. The Jobs These People Hold Don't Require Critical Thinking
Ass-kissing requires no thinking at all, and piracy in the face of no opposition doesn't even require force.
