If you could put one story the media overlooked on every front page of every newspaper in the US
What would it be?

I'd put "Convicted Lobbyist, Jack Abramoff, knew US was to invade Iraq year before it happened."

How about you?

1. there's so many . . .
. . . but the permanent bases in Iraq--proof that there's never been any intention of leaving--would have to be my pick.

2. That the US elite have been supporting terrorist groups for decades and that the event
of 9-11 and the US's regional policies in that part of the world are all rooted in the crimes of IranContra and BCCI. The media refusing to allow any traction on that story is acting with criminal complicity, imo.

3. that's a good one!
When considering that some of the 19 hijackers on 911 were on his casino boat just days before 911. The media has given a free ride to whoever commited the terrorist attacks of 911. No one has been held accountable! Everything the Bush/PNAC cabal has done since was based on this event!

4. In big headlines: Project For a New American Century
planned Iraq invasion long before 9/11. The American people are still clueless.

7. DIEBOLD: Until recently, headed by Wally O'Dell, a Bush-Cheney campaign
chair and major fundraiser (a Bush "Pioneer," right up there with Ken Lay), who promised in writing to "deliver Ohio's electoral votes to Bush-Cheney in 2004"; and

ES&S: A spinoff of Diebold (similar computer architecture), initially funded by rightwing billionaire Howard Ahmanson, who also gave one million dollars to the extremist 'christian' Chalcedon Foundation (which touts the death penalty for homosexuals, among other things). Diebold and ES&S have an incestuous relationship; until recently, they were run by two brothers, Bob and Tod Urosevich.

These are the people who "counted" 80% of the nation's votes in 2004, under a veil of corporate secrecy--in a coup engineered by the biggest crooks in the Anthrax Congress, Tom Delay and Bob Ney, abetted by corporatist 'Democrats' Christopher Dodd and Terry McAuliffe, called the "Help America Vote for Bush Act" of 2002: $3.9 billion in boondoggle funding to fast-track electronic voting systems all over the country, run on TRADE SECRET, PROPRIETARY programming code, owned and controlled by Bushite corporations, with virtually no audit/recount controls.

News story of the century--maybe of all time: How these Bushite corporations gained control of our election system between 2002 and 2004.

This has got to be the biggest story since the Civil War, certainly since the Civil Rights protests of the 60s.

The abolition of slavery and the restitution of civil rights affected about 10-20% of the population. It meant that democracy was limited to whites only. But this con game and scam of electronic voting disenfranchises every American, Republican and Democrat, libertarian and green, black, brown, yellow, and white. It means the loss of democracy itself.

9. Putting it all together...connecting the dots
Abramoff, 9/11, BCCI, Iran-Contra, North, stolen elections, Halliburton, Cunningham, PNAC, etc, etc. It's all connected in a big web of lies and corruption and that's what I think should be the big national news story.

10. I agree, and I hope it's not cheating by not choosing one
but dots have got to be connected. There is a pattern of corruption. One thing that particularly annoys me is that the media ignored all the Abramoff dirt as it came to light, and now simply refer to him as the "disgraced former lobbyist." Problem is, the intentionally uninformed public has no real knowledge of why he's such a disgrace. He is the poster child for corruption. People should connect dots on the various known scandals he's involved in and speculate on what the unknown ones might be.

12. The complete and total disater that is drug prohibition is only outshined
by the complete and total lack of reporting on this problem.

The war on drugs costs us billions of dollars and all we have to show for it is an entrenched criminal network, huge prison population, and slippery slope towards a police state. Almost everything wrong with this country can be traced back to the war on drugs:

- Gun laws, an unconstitutional and ineffectual reactions to gun violence. Such violence is largely caused by gangs, which are fueled by money from the drug trade.
- The worlds highest prison population, due to numbers inflated by non-violent drug offenses.
- A steady rise in heavy handed police tactics in order to combat the drug trade.
- A massive (although internationally competitive :eyes:) tax burden, which could be cut if drug enforcement costs were eliminated and legally produced drugs were taxed.
- Powerful criminal organizations whose existence depends largely on drugs remaining illegal.

Ending the war on drugs and legalizing their use would save billions of dollars a year, and accomplish what 30 years of prohibition could not; the destruction of the violent criminal element that thrives on the currently illegal drug trade. If I could I would splash this across every newspaper in the country.

13. VOTER FRAUD IS A FACT!!!!!!!
...that is what I wish were all over the papers. That story is about fascist takeover using our laws because corporations "own" the code, therefore can and do manipulate it to get the results they want to get. That headline encompasses our right to vote, it suppresses the voice of We The People who should be able to have a voice for our economy, corporations, our social development, and what is good for our communities.

It goes on, but that is the headline I wish they would scream from every rooftop!

14. Take the public from incompetence toward criminal --
Detail 2 or 3 of the most prosecutable crimes of Bush and Cheney. From election fraud, to Iraq, to signing statements, to use of money in the WOT - there are dozens upon dozens. Pick the top 2 reasons for each, detail the crime, and detail the future consequenses for America if they are not prosecuted.

IMHO America is not going to impeach Bush and Cheney on ideology, or incompetence either one. Making the case they are criminals, and explaining why impeachment is important for the future of our country, is imperative.

Of course, Bush will help us quite a lot if he continues to attack countries not authorized by Congress.
