20. I was sweating, too. And as close as it was, I was worried about how far we could go...
... if we won.

But now, looking at the way our defense REALLY won the game in the 2nd half, and realizing that Philly was the No. 2 offense in the entire league (behind us), I'm more confident that we can not only make it to the big game, but maybe even beat an AFC powerhouse like S.D., N.E., Indy.

Our offense has got it covered. If the defense can perform like that under presure in the 2nd half against Philly... look out!

14. Since my team
din't make it to the playoffs, I watched the two games today. And unbelievably, both of the teams I rooted for won!

Best play of the day, IMHO, was when half the Saints' team pushed the player w/the ball into the end zone.

Saints in the Superbowl!

21. I have been praying for this and I am a Steelers fan...
I was down in New Orleans in October...and they beat the Eagles and my coworker and I both said..."wouldn't it be great for the Saints to go to the Super Bowl?"

I then talked to a bunch of other folks...and we all agreed...it would truly be a great thing for the Saints to go to the Super Bowl!!!

24. This is from a lifelong Bears fan.
If, and that's a mighty big if, my beloved Bears beat the Seahawks tomorrow, and my Bears meet the Saints the following weekend, if the Bears lose to the Saints in the NFC Championship game, I won't be very upset about it. I've been known to cry when the Bears lose but I won't if the Saints beat them.

This mind sound totally sappy but if there is one team in the entire NFL that deserves to win the Super Bowl in any year, this is the New Orleans Saints year.

For all you Saints fans in New Orleans, down on the Gulf Coast and scattered across this country because of Katrina, for your Saints to win it all after everything you've endured for the past 17-18 months, well to me it would prove that at least there is some justice in this world.

Anyway, if the Seahawks beat my Bears tomorrow afternoon, and I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if they do especially after that horrid display against the Slackers New Years Eve; this is one die-hard, life-long Bears fan that will be cheering her big old Chicago South Side Irish heart out for the New Orleans Saints.

I guess there will always be idiots who lack in grace and common sense. How could anyone NOT root for the Saints?

33. First, I'm not an idiot, just a Packers fan
So when he intentionally calls them the "Slackers", it shows his respect for the traditional friendly rivalry between Packers and Bears fans. Within the bounds of that rivalry the proper response is "Bears still suck." Ask any Packer fan. It's not about grace and common sense, it's just tradition. And it's all in fun. We haven't yet put up a border fence to keep Illinois people out of Wisconsin and we don't charge them tolls for using our highways to go to our vacation spots.

And I do share the sentiment for the Saints. My post didn't say I didn't appreciate their success.

I'd like to congratulate the New Orleans Saints on a hard-fought, well-played game!! :toast: I'll be rooting for them in the Super Bowl! :bounce:

I'm happy for the Saints on a few levels.

First of all, I think it's great mojo for the city and the people who have been through such trauma and tragedy.

Secondly, I think it shows the rest of the nation the resilience and heart of a people who are determined, not just survive, but to prevail ... despite the insult and neglect they have suffered at the hands of BushCo.

Finally, I was won over a long time ago by the personality and humor of their long-suffering fan base, back when they were dubbed the 'New Orleans Aints', and their loyal supporters attended games wearing brown paper bags ... as the 'Unknown Fans'. :applause:
