It's like he's taunting them, "What do I have to do to get you to impeach us? Eat a small Muslim child on national TV?"
After the way he is challenging congress as if his people have never read the part of the constitution that makes all three branches equal and checks on each other, I really think he WANTS to get impeached. It's getting out of hand, and if they don't impeach him, they are pretty much just saying that he can do whatever he wants and there's nothing he can do about it. Come on House Members! Do something about it! Bush and his band of idiots are killing us all and you're letting them!

9. Nancy said that before the election, iirc. But, she sets the table now.
And it looks like she's going to need some help from her merry band of supporters.

26. so why aren't they standing up to bush
does he or his puppet-masters have something they can blackmail the democrats with. or is it just that they are big enough chickens to need a hen-house built for them rather then a house of congress.

28. ONE WEEK
and yuo expect them to impeach in ONE WEEK?

They are going to have investigations in all kinds of unconnected committees that will end in the same place

Damn it, ciruclar firing squad is forming due to lack of memory, as in historical memory

(Yes you, go study Watergate)

He can only back the American people up in a corner so far before a lot of people will make sure he comes down.

29. Yes, you can start by writing letters to papers
congress and talknig to your friends

That is how organic impeachment works

a response that won't hurt them.

Oh, and Impeach the Decider. :)

then my fears have been realized...

the dems got their backbone from "rent-a-spine" and the rental contract is not being renewed

11. Since he no longer has a rubber stamp congress and no further
right wing legislation will get passed unchallenged, he knows that his legacy will rise or fall in Iraq, so he desperately needs something good to happen there, thus the surge. I don't see why impeachment should be off the table, bush's crimes are much worse than watergate ever was, and Nixon would have been impeached if he hadn't resigned. I think the difference is that back then, there were still some honorable republicans who would support impeachment if the facts warranted, whereas now there are few if any repubs who would do that.

Lieberman is kind of the deciding vote with things now that the Senator that had the stroke is out recovering. That does not bode well for anyone.

30. Ok here are the numbers
Edited on Sat Jan-13-07 10:05 PM by nadinbrzezinski
for the house you need a simple majority, impeachment is the equivalent of indictment

Then it moves to a trial in the senate where you need a supermajority... you need more than just Joe... and just like you I don't count Joe... but some GPPers are starting to signal that they are having ahem doubts....

Once they have the numbers I expect bush to resign for the same reason Nixon stepped down... they had the votes

17. You won't get any disagreement from me...
but the democrats are - what - in control of congress for - what - 2 minutes now?

these things take time unfortunately - once the nation wrapped itself around the idea that Nixon and his repukes were a gang of criminal thugs, it still took a couple years to get them.

we are just at the beginning of the stage where the nation has accepted the idea the these repukes LIE, CHEAT & STEAL, and are HYPCRITICAL as well...

unfortunately, too, bunkerboy and his gang will be gone before any real imapact impeachment will have...

but that does not rule out the possibility of a new "first" - a deserved arrest and trial in the hague for their crimes...that's what I'd be pushing for...

19. No, it's not just you. I think so too.
I think if a pollster asked the question, a small percentage would say that Bush & Co. seems to be pushing the limits just to see how far he can go before actually getting smacked.

I'd put money on... 5% of the general U.S. population.

22. I think they want to establish the Executive Branch's dominance.
Edited on Sat Jan-13-07 01:03 PM by Marr
They've placed Federalist Society members on the Supreme Court, after all-- and many of their actions have suggested not-so-subtly that they feel the Executive Branch has absolute authority.

I believe they *want* to have a showdown with Congress, because they think that they can win. This is their domestic agenda.

24.  I think they are testing the limits and don't care.
They had to know well in advance that this surge was not going to fly well . Knowing this and still pushing forward tells me if I were as evil as they the next step would be , ok they are going to force this issue so we go to pre-prepared plan E which may be anything from bringing this to Iran or getting Israel to start their bombing attacks .

I don;t feel they are going to give up their years to get to their dream quite so easy or at all .

33. Unitary executive.
Why not, he's rode roughshod over the constitution with hardly a slowdown except maybe a court ruling here or there he ignores. The jury is out if we can completely return to the country we had for maybe a generation, especially with his precedents so far and some very bad court appointees.

Screw it up to the point where it's too broke to fix it, then say "SEE! they got the majority and didn't do squat."

Seriously, he is going to sabotage our country for the benefit of the GOP in 2008.

He acts like a bratty little child, basically giving America the finger. if America is dopey enough to vote the GOP in in 2008 then all hope is lost.
