I found this site during the travesty of the 2000 election. I was shocked that more people weren't as upset as I was at what was going on.

It was so comforting to find out then that I was far from the only one who was upset. I'm not sure how many were registered here at that time.

A big thank you to Skinner for DU. I may not post much, but I visit many times daily to check out what is going on.

Remove the "1" in the six digit number and that is the number when your registered. ie I am member #44433.

I originally signed on in February of 2001 with the username of ritc2750 -- which I discovered is no longer listed in the directory. I suppose because it's been dormant for so long. I changed to "Jeff in Cicinnati" (I lived in Cincinnati back then) when Skinner offered to let us change our handle without losing our post count. And then I moved to Milwaukee and figured I should change again.

Interesting that there have been more than 30,000 new users in less than two years. No wonder I can't keep everybody straight anymore.

I found the site in the end of Feb or the beginning of March 2001. The site started in January of that year and I found it through the first or second "Top Ten Conservative Idiots" link from another site. I can remember staying up all night reading every thread (there weren't so many then) and then finally feeling the need to jump in and reply to somebody carping about Al Gore losing the Election. It's been a long bumpy ride but I still love this site and read it every day.
