If Bush's risk assessment and nightmare scenarios were credible...
Edited on Thu Jan-11-07 10:37 AM by Strawman
If he genuinely believes them as the members of the press like Russert and Brian Williams who got to attend his background briefing maintain that he does, why isn't he reinstituting a draft or calling for it right now so we can have the 500,000 troops actually needed to stabilize and secure Iraq in place ASAP?

And why wouldn't other countries be willing to contribute to a troop surge to secure Iraq if the consequences of failure are indeed so unquestionably dire to global security? Why doesn't anyone else in Eurpoe or Asia or the Middle East care to participate in such a vital mission? Why can't we get these troops that are supposedly so desparately needed to help the Iraqi's from other nations acting on behalf of their own national security interests that concur with ours?

Because it's a bunch of neo-con bullshit, that's why.

But seriously, aren't those logical questions that the press ought to be asking at these sessions and airing in the wake of Bush's effort to scare the shit out of all of us again?
