Elmo Stars In Wartime TV Special For Military Kids

(CBS) SANTA CLARA For 3-year-old Raychelle Frescas, Elmo means fun. But now, her furry Muppet friend may bring comfort from her biggest monster yet -- separation from her military dad.

Elmo stars in "When Parents Are Deployed," a "Sesame Street" TV special based on a longer DVD called "Talk, Listen, Connect," to help families cope when a loved one goes to war.

"Elmo said, 'Daddy's got to go away for lots and lots of days right?' Elmo's Dad said, 'That's right, son,' " Elmo says in one scene.

Raychelle's parents, Raymond and Geri Frescas, expect the Navy to ship Raymond to the Middle East anytime.

For most of her first year, Raychelle only knew her father from video, phone calls, and photo albums.

1. Hmmmmm
On the one hand, probably a necessary evil; on the other hand necessary because our president is such a dunderhead.

2. Elmo rocks
I fully trust the people at Sesame Street to handle this with the expertise that is needed. This is however a sign of how engulfing this horrible war effort has become.

BTW- the fact that they are doing this and that "Postcards from Buster" season premier was about military families is no coincidence considering who is running the CPB now.
