whether I go or not, I can give you some numbers so you hook up with them. it would be NYC UFPJ, and friends from my local Democratic club.

4. I'm planning on being there.
Time to draw a new sign.

How about:

IMPEACH THE SON OF A BUSH

With a suitable drawing of the Chimp of course.

5. That's a great idea.

I live in the area. If you wish to save a few bucks, getting a motel approximately 40 miles south is a is not a bad idea if you wish to book ahead and stay at more modestly priced lodgings.

http://www.simplyfredericksburg.com/visitor.shtml

If you have an extra day or two I recommend a walking tour of Old Town Fredericksburg? Second to true Northern Virginia (Woodbridge and North of that), Fredericksburg, IMO, is arguably tolerant and liberal as our cosmopolitan Northern Areas.

Don't be freaked by the congestion on I-95 for it ebbs and flows. Please just let the nuts go buy and chill in the travel lanes. :hi:

On Edit: p.s. Us locals always use public transportation when we can because parking is super expensive and hard to find in D.C. proper. There's an Amtrak station in Fredericksburg that hooks-up to the D.C. metro. If you stay south of D.C., IMO, public transportation is the way to go and not be frustrated with traffic.

10. Oh, great - OK :-)
Ops! Sorry, in your case, I'm preaching to the choir.

Oh well, it's probably better to share ideas at the D.C. forum anyway. :hi:

6. I'm going.
You really should go if you can manage it. Hopefully this time we won't be competing with a hurricane for media coverage like in Septembe 2005. If you've never participated in a mass demonstration like this, you really owe it to yourself.

12. What Babylon Sister says. :-)
When I went the last time, there was a DU meetup at a pub near the capitol (Hawk & Dove, I believe it was called) the night before the march so we could meet each other. I had prearranged to meet some of my DU Photo Group friends there. The next morning I met up with InTheFlow and UsedToBeSick and we walked down to where the march was forming up, looked for the other DUers and couldn't find them, so we just sort of made our own way through the crowd. Really, all the people are so focused on the same goal that everybody's your friend. It's a wonderful experience.

I hadn't been to a big demonstration myself since 1969 or 1970 in San Francisco, but this was very much the same.

If you keep an eye on the Activist Forum or in the DC forum you'll get some direction about meet-ups and so on, and maybe can arrange to share lodging, which is what I did last time.

I promise you, you'll love it.

15. I've been to 3 demonstrations so far
It's easy for me because it's only a 3 hour drive to DC...two were DU gatherings and I met some great people. I found it easiest to get a room in the city. The parking is taken care of by the hotel, and you can walk to the action yet have a home base if it's a long weekend of protests and want to take a break. Look for a hotel within a few blocks of Constitution Ave. If I remember the name correctly, State Street Hotel is affordable, has partial kitchens, and it's 2 blocks off of Constitution.

You will love the energy and the fantastic imagination of the crowd. Usually there's a Korean band that's out of this world and I like getting close to them when I make the circle around the White House.

Don't know yet if I can go to this protest, but I'm surely inspired to make another go of it. If I do, I'll try and hook up with some fellow DU'ers. They're always fun to spend the day with. Hope to see you there. :D

I'm going (from TX), and I hope everyone who can does! A DUer from Rome will be there. We just need help to find a DU meet-up place. If anyone has any ideas, or input, there's a thread in the DC forum that needs ideas.
