I've been told there are "proper channels" to go through other than taking to the streets although I don't have a clue what those might be. So, taking to the streets would not only involve being harassed, photographed, possibly arrested and beaten, tracked by "authorities", being a possible target for numerous groups and being put on countless lists by repukes, but it also now includes being abused by fellow dems.

You want to know why people aren't in the streets, there's your answer.

We need to elicit and challenge their rationalizations for inaction face-to-face. Fax a request for a meeting (http://january6th.org/mtg_request_menendez_fax_all.pdf">sample). Go with a friend (it's easier for two to muster the courage, but keep the numbers small or effective dialog will be difficult). It's best to fax a request in advance, but if you just show up ask to speak to a legislative assistant or coordinator to find out why your representative is not demanding immediate impeachment of Bush and Cheney. Challenge their rationalizations. It's time for a few "quiet conversations" -- and some not so quiet ones.
