Nora O'D Interviewed Sen. Gordon Smith - Just Ended
He's continuing to assert that he has a disagreement with W. Making all of Baghdad a "green zone" won't happen. And we can't wait for the Iraqis to stand up before we stand down.

Smith wishes W well in the war on terror but at the "end of the day if you can't speak up you might as well go home".

Way to go Smith. Better late than never and thank you for standing your ground today.

1. Did you see her and Maitlin going at it?
That was a pleasant surprise.

4. Yes...
And the interview with the mother of a fallen soldier was excellent. The mom was so gentle. Families of fallen soldiers don't necessarily want more troops sent in either.

9. VERY out of character for O'Donnell, who usually drools on any
rethug who has the (mis)fortune to get in her way.

11. Hey, Nora's a media whore, but nobody asserted that she's stupid.
Like tweety bird, O'Donnell knows that Democrats are now in control ... time to come back to the political middle. Thank God! :-)

2. Oregon DUers probably despise him...
but at least he's saying the right things about the war that more Democrats ought to be saying.

7. I think we all do despise him. He doesn't back up his talk with the
corresponding votes/actions.

13. Absolutely correct.
He is flip-flopping daily in the Oregonian, the Register-Guard, and the Willamette Week.

He is a liar.

16. He's up for re-election in '08
and realizes our state is becoming bluer w/every election.

Our State House and Senate has a majority of Dems for the 1st time in 16 years.

Screw Gordo.

17. We do. He's in the pocket of the timber and insurance companies.
May have had an epiphany on this issue but I assure you not on the welfare of the people. He's a dyed in the wool corporatist.

3. Then she interveiewed a woman named Rosemary Palmer
who had lost a son in Iraq. This woman was incredible and told Nora that when * says that leaving would not honor the deaths of those who had served, it makes not sense. It only becomes a way to expand the game, and that the argument of a death to honor a death just doesn't fly.

15. Gee, I guess Gordo must be running for re-election in '08
And yep, he is.

I had him pegged as a possible pick-off, with Allard seat coming our way as well.
